Will this work in a 2011 MacBook? My wife has 500 gb in hers and is near maxed out.

This is a hybrid drive. It's basically an 8GB SSD bolted onto a 1TB hard drive, along with some software in the controller that tries to figure out what your most commonly used files are, which it then caches automatically on the SSD part.

I purchased this drive 2/2015 for $73. It's been in my ps4 ever since. Note to check your drive warranty via Seagate immediately. Have them correct the no warranty message if applicable. It should have 5 years show correctly. This issue is noted in an Amazon review.

In regards to ps4, I recall the benchmarks on this drive aren't ideal.

This is true. I never bought a used HDD that was worth anything.
However "used" from Amazon's Warehouse [this is the big difference!] usually means brand new, really.
That has been my experience.

I upgraded some time ago my main rig's main disk with a Seagate SSHD [amazon.com] and that thing became about 5x FASTER compared to traditional HDD.

I can't understand why any new brand name computers are still sold with slow old school HDDs.
SSD or SSHD is the way to go.
