How to get the Kinect Adapter

For users upgrading from original Xbox One to Xbox One S:

For a limited time, the Kinect Adapter will be available for free to customers who have an existing Xbox One console, an Xbox One Kinect Sensor, and an Xbox One S console. You will need the serial number for all three devices to get the free Xbox Kinect Adapter. To request your free Kinect Adapter, contact Xbox Support.
To save time, we recommend that you make sure your Xbox One S console, original Xbox One console, and Xbox One Kinect Sensor are registered to your Microsoft account. Go to Device Support to register your devices.

For users new to Xbox One S:

Customers who have just purchased a Kinect sensor to use with their Xbox One S console can buy the adapter from the Microsoft Store or other participating retailers.

I went through the process of registering all of my devices- Kinect, Xbox One, & new Xbox One S to my microsoft account. Usually serial numbers can be found on devices, receipts, or rewards accounts with stores. I then chatted with a representative online and they processed the request quickly and easily. I have an adapter being mailed to me now.

Hope this helps someone!

Got mine a couple of weeks ago by this same process.
Registered all 3 devices but they only asked for the serial number of the Xbox One S.
The adapter is the same one for the Kinect to connect to a Windows 10 PC.

Thanks, in for one. Apparently it works on PC as well, and I don't even have a Xbone S.

While it is nice Microsoft is offering it free, the adapter is a giant mess of wires.

I did this as soon as I got my launch One S and it was surprisingly easy.

This. So many wires. And it requires an additional power outlet

This seems like such a convoluted thing to have done... why would they not have just put in the connector to the Xbox One S? I guess possibly the internal power supply wouldn't have been able to power it (hence the extra power adapter needed through this adapter).

Why is #1 and #3 the same?
#2 is incorrect: if you are new to Xbox One S, that means you don't have the original Xbox One. The free offer requires serial number from original Xbox One.

This post contains too many incorrect info, or just a horrible copy/paste job.

MS specifically said that putting in a Kinect adapter would indeed make it not possible to have an internal supply. I think it is also because the Kinect is a dead accessory, why put in somethign that isn't used by the vast majority moving forward. Cheaper to give em a free adapter now.

I was able to do this fairly easily the other day with the correct links (OP update your post to include these).

1. Register your Xbox One, Xbox One S, Kinect:
https://devicesupport.microsoft.com/en-US

2. Start a chat, call, or email with Microsoft Support:
http://support.xbox.com/en-US/con...ct-adapter

I previously had registered my old Xbox One prior to selling it and just needed to register my Xbox One S and Kinect. A 15 minute chat just required the support tech look up and verify my information including serial numbers. I didn't have to provide them as they were already on my account when I started the chat. He then verified my shipping address and took about five minutes to setup the order. Pretty simple. I initiated the chat this past Monday and per the tracking I should get it between tomorrow and next Thursday, depending on how long FedEx holds it at my local hub where it is currently.
