Target is clearancing a lot of kitchenaid product for the home. The 4.5 quart stand mixers are down to $150 in a lot of places, and I think this food processor at $80 is also a great value or gift idea. It typically sells for $160-$200.

Of course with any Target clearance deal this is YMMV

meh. For $80 just get a good standalone food processor next time there's a deal on one. I do have a KA mixer and a grinder attachment, but wouldn't be interested in paying for an over-priced food processor attachment to stick on the end of my mixer. Just not worth it, especially when it eventually fails. Or worse, when the mixer fails and your stuck having to buy another Kitchenaid or be left with a bunch of useless attachments.

First FP I bought was a Cuisinart blender / food processor combo. Blender worked fine but as a FP it was almost worthless. Motors designed to run at a specific speed / power often don't do so well at another task. Even with a bunch of extra gears to convert power to speed, like this FP addon would also have to have.

Finally, this doesn't appear to work with a blade in the bottom of the bowl, like every other FP you might buy. As far as I can tell it only works with the disk tools for slicing, grating, etc. So there's a good chance you'll end up wanting a separate food process too if you do any really cooking.

Oddly enough the store closest to me is one of only two stores in Houston area that does have a couple at the $79.99 price. Rarity enough to find an item at the better clearance pricing, and it turns out to be something I have little interested in.

We have this. I agree. It is just ok at best as a food processor. If you are going to process huge amounts of good at once it is decent. Also, it is a huge nuisance to clean as you are not suppose to submerge it in water.

The biggest problem with the mixer/fp combo is the giant, heavy mixer you likely have to move around to assemble a FP. My mixer lives in a closet because it takes up so much space. I would never use the food processor if I had to do all that work to make one.

I do love my kitchenaid food processor, though. It's solid and has never let me down in 6 years. It's just a little smaller than needed, sometimes. I do have a cracked bowl that I need to replace, though.

The mixers are on clearance too. Some are marked down from $299 to $149.

Example [brickseek.com]

The $209 price is also a clearance price. Retail is $299.

Very much not junk, but can be overpriced. Kitchenaid is known to be a pretty good standard in the consumer (and to some extent commercial) cooking appliance market, but because of that name recognition they've plastered their name over a bunch of crap of varying quality and usually high price.

As someone else said... at $80 I might as well get a dedicated Food Processor on sale. The only advantage I could see (apart from bragging about your Kitchenaid Attachment on your Kitchenaid Mixer) is that you save some counter space by not having to add a food processor on the counter and instead converting the mixer to do that job.

I haven't used this attachment, but I do love my Kitchenaid Pro-Line 7 Qt. Mixer. Performs very well for mass batches of cookies we give out, and comes with a 5 year hassle-free warranty.
