Thread Details

Was looking around for this and saw one of the lowest prices ever on it, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...-_-Product.

Not sure if MSFT will ever fully support recording etc, but if you were looking this seems to be a pretty good deal.

Not quite familiar with this tuner. What other features does it have that my 4ktv does not have other than pausing live tv?

Would this work for the xbox one S in terms of upscaling?

The haven't really talked about anything related to it and the S unfortunately.

When I first set up my XB S it did ask if I had a tv tuner, which made me wonder why I would install a tuner through it when I already have a dedicated tuner on my tv.

I would not recommend this device. I owned it and got it for about 29 dollars a few months ago from amazon.

Many of us were waiting for MS to release update that would give DVR function to the xbox 1. Last year MS promised that in 2016 they would give DVR function. So lots of us got this device, and waited, and waited and waited.

Then a few months ago, MS said it would not give us the DVR function. MS was going to put their resources to gaming features instead of DVR function.

I was pissed as were others. I was still under the 30 day return at amazon and returned it. But I feel sorry for all the people that trusted MS, and expected this device to improve the xbox 1.

This device has 30 min pause feature, it will not save any show, or record series or anything. Completely useless.

And in case you think, well I can pause it on one channel and go watch something else and come back, NO, when you move to other channel it will start the 30 min timer again, and if you go back to other channel , it will start the 30 min timer on that channel only. Completely useless. It was talked about positively for a while, because we all thought the DVR feature would be so cool. What a disappointment.

You are WRONG!

Do research on it, they "suspended" it, and did not give a date or anything. And when you check forums and other MS sites, suspended is MS-speak for not going to happen. Check for yourself. I did the research. Listen , many people were waiting a year, because MS stated in 2015, that in 2016 ms would put out update that would add DVR feature. Look for new info on DVR feature the last few months , nothing. At xbox 1 launch they were saying how the MS was a mulitplayer living room device. Gamers got mad at MS for not focusing on Gaming. Well, a few months ago, their statement said, we are focusing on gaming now, "we heard you", that you want gaming features, so we are suspending DVR function. We are removing resources from the DVR section and putting them on gaming features.

As I stated, I was disappointed, in feb of 2016, MS had employees testing the dvr function, and lots of us were excited. If you are waiting for feature, I would wait to buy this device until MS actually comes out with DVR feature. I was writing in this thread, to alert people to not get this device. But the day MS comes out with the DVR feature, then buy it, not before. Make sense.

One other reason MS used the word "suspended" was because they could get sued or class action suit against MS for mis-leading info concerning the selling of this product. People could sue if they stated DVR feature was "canceled" but if they use the term "suspended", MS lawyers found a loophole. In either case, buy this device if and when DVR function comes out (which will not happen), unless MS gets sued with class action (which I don't think will happen). Who knows.

If you bought this device after looking at MS advertising the DVR feature, you might have a class action lawsuit. It is false advertising, I bought this device because MS stated DVR was coming in 2016. I'm just glad I was in 30 day window on returning it to amazon, when news hit about not releasing DVR feature.

MS stopped development of software for DVR, not pushed back. I highly doubt the feature is coming. Very likely they hit a roadblock with TV studios.

I own this and prefer using my Xbox over my TV's built in tuner. I like talking to it via the connect and never have to use my TV's remote. DVR would be nice, but not having the antenna cord come out from my mounted TV is also another plus. The menus are nice too. I just hate saying "Hey Cortana" now.

I use this on my Windows 10 PC for PVR and stream throughout the house using Kodi. It's the same as one of the PC models, but doesn't include any software/drivers in the box. Just had to find some online, as Hauppauge doesn't make them available for download without a serial number, which this also seems to lack.

It works great. I only wish I had spent more to get a dual tuner version.

It's taking so long to go back to $30. Wish I didn't return it before when I didn't need it because of course I now need it
