I have one of these. It doesn't lose its charge. It might be water resistant. I'd scarce say that it is waterproof. It might be, but just looking at it right now doubt it. Silicon plugs don't inspire confidence. But they at least made an effort. I think I got my for $8 or 9.99

I've always just assumed it was a 2cent add-on that they think "why not". I've never used the light (on purpose anyway), but I can see a few ways it might be useful. It certainly wouldn't sway me one way or the other.
