What do you mean? Are you saying that AE is selling an inferior quality line (with the same model name? through Nordstrom Rack?

I ordered a pair of these and I'm fully expecting the same Madison Ave model that sells for $370 in the AE stores here. If that's not what I get they're going straight back.

most of the AE shoes from the rack are not the same models as the original AE. so yes it is an inferior line for the rack for most models. I am not sure if AE had originally sold the madison ave models in their stores. I saw this madvison ave at the rack in black was very unimpressed. the leather is much thinner and the polish/finish is very poor. the cole haans at the rack looked much much better.

fyi: i worked at the rack for 2 years. i currently own 5 pairs of AE's.
-the rack used to be a great placed to get old merchandise from the full line stores. when i first started shopping there about 8 years ago the merchandise was about 50% from full line 50% junk made for the rack. when i stopped working there it was only 10% stuff from full line and 90% junk made for the rack.-this is per my store manager
-you can tell which stuff is from full line and which is pure rack based on the stickers/tags. if the tag is an original MSRP tag with handwritten markdowns, then it is most likely full line. if the tag has a "compared at" sticker it is 100% made for the rack.
-there are still deals to be had at the rack. my coworkers was able to snag a pair of AE's from the full line for 10$.

FYI i hope your are not confusing the rack shoes (madison ave) with the full line (madison park)

How would you compare the AE rack shoes compared to the AE outlet shoes?

I purchased a pair of AE shoes that looks very similar to these, and I can say they are my least favorite AE shoes. They seem inferior in quality. The color wears off unlike my other AE shoes. I am not sure if I can return them. Oh well. I won't buy AE shoes again from Nordstrom Rack.

These are seconds quality, not first, even though they are considered "NEW", they all have the notch on their sole indicating that they cannot be returned to the AE Store.

Don't expect these to be the same quality as store bought AE's. I bought some from the Rack in the past and returned them. Still better quality than most shoes, but not AE Quality.

I would save the hassle and cancel these, I returned 2 pairs of these already, They are not $370 dollar shoes for $150.

AE makes special models only for racks. This one is one of them. I got one called Boardwalk earlier for $70 at a local store. It's a casual wingtip with a lot of holes, so the crappy craftsmanship doesn't bother me. Definitely worth $70.

it depends. if you go into the rack stores you can sometimes find the mainline shoes there for very cheap (ie sea island/park avenue). however most of the AE shoes there are of a lower quality. you can google the model and see if it was ever part of the main AE line

the shoes from the AE mainline found at the rack can be seconds or first quality (depending if the mainline nordstrom stores have clearanced it and then not sold them). these shoes are not seconds but rather a cheaper line
