I was just wandering my local Sam's at lunch and came across a price drop for the Vizio SB4551-D5. This is their 2016 flagship model. They have it marked down to $349.88 through 9/17/2016 (according to the in-club sign).

The shipping is free online as well.

I so badly wanted to like this. Purchased from Costco as soon as it was released. Sound is very good when it works, especially from the soundbar and sub. However, I'm quite underwhelmed by the surround speakers. Even though you can change their volume from the remote, they just don't provide the experience I was expecting. I could live with that, but then there's the connection issues...constantly. Also, the center channel would go out during the olympics so I couldn't hear any commentator talking...just the grunting of the sand volleyball players. Sometimes I appreciated that Smilie I returned the unit and decided to try another in case it was just a bad one. On the second unit, I no longer have the center channel issue, but still have the connectivity issue. It's paired with a Vizio 4K and works great when it's working, but it requires too much hand-holding. It's very pretty...soundbar is very trim and the subwoofer is pretty awesome. I know, there will probably be firmware upgrades to fix some of my issues, but I'm not sure I want to wait around for that, in case it doesn't happen. I think it's going back and will be replaced with a more traditional setup...more reliable and better sound. Good luck if you jump on this...

I've listened to it in the club and it sounded good, but everyone has their preferences & it's hard to really discern much in a big warehouse. I do like how compact the system is and that it's relatively easy to make it less noticeable in a room. The speakers on the 2016 line are definitely a lot smaller than last year's models (guessing roughly 1/2) with the same sound pressure levels.

From what I've read it does well, maybe a little heavy on the bass end, but it has gotten some solid reviews/feedback around the interwebs. I've been waiting for a drop to buy it myself, so I'm torn now between buying this week or seeing what happens over the Holidays. My new Samsung flat panel seems to be OK for general watching, but I miss having surround sound and more audio power when watching movies.

Ugh... that's not very encouraging. Maybe some software updates will fix it?? Fingers crossed...

With Costco do you just get the 1 yr standard warranty or is it extended like their TV's?

Warranty isn't extended like TV's...at least not that I'm aware of.

One other thing I forgot to mention, which really disappointed me...while the Smartcast feature is great for streaming things like iHeart radio and Google Music, it doesn't support video like the Smartcast displays do. It has HDMI ARC for crying out loud...why not just support casting video to it?! So I would need a separate Chromecast if I wanted to do video...seems kinda silly. Vizio is step ahead of the pack on this unit, but they missed the boat on a few features and haven't fully worked out the bugs on some of the features it does have.

OK, good to know, thanks! I'm really hoping they do some software updates to fix the issues... not sure if I want to take the leap just yet though and bank on it.
