I just ordered 3 of these last week, 2 at 12.99 and 1 at 13.49, and thought that was a good price. Sitting on the backless bleachers at the high school football games has been killing my back...

First off, nice find OP! Nice price and design especially if you are looking for something that stores in a smaller footprint and is easier to carry (vs the metal frame ones).

In regards to the kayak question, I just got done doing a bunch of research on this same question as I was thinking about going down the route of using a stadium seat. My opinion and decision was that if you are doing very light paddling or if you want to use this as a child passenger seat, then that should probably work fine. However, for longer term investment, I think a real kayak seat would be best as the anchor points will provide much better stability and support while also offering better long-term durability. I think the weak point in using these as kayak seats will be the ability to anchor the seat as well as how long will the straps last if you do anchor them.

Just my opinion as everybody's needs, expectations and price point may be different. Amazon Warehouse Deals has some better prices on some highly rated kayak seats.

Hope this helps Smilie

I bought one of these. They're garbage. The rods that run through the back for support tore through the fabric.

Bought two of these but both ripped at the top where the plastic ribs provide support. Total waste of money.

Bought some Teralite Wildhorn Outfitters instead and love them!

this was my initial reaction when i saw the picture. yes, smaller footprint compared to the metal ones but the reason why they're metal is because they offer support to lean back.

doesn't appear there is even a hook at the bottom?

i looked at the cheapie coleman ones and was not impressed with the comfort or support it provided (But it is only $10). they are also narrow 15"

i ended up with the stadium chair type. got it from amazon (warehouse deals) for $25. i like the bungee type suspension on the bottom of these seats, much more form fitting than just a piece of padding like on the cheap ones.

pros: metal frame, much more support, more comfortable, keeps your butt elevated from the bleachers which can be cold metal/concrete in the winter. wider - 17" (Almost a normal chair which is 18" wide)

cons: larger/heavier to carry, more expensive

we go to lacrosse tournaments which can be 1/2 to almost all day long so it was easily worth it to spend a little more.

Looks like it's sold out on Amazon, but the blue one is available online from Walmart for the same price with free store pickup.

Edit: blue chair is back in stock on amazon.
