So, people seem to hate your deal because this camera has previously been on sale for $70 at Home Depot & $78 on Amazon for prime members.

That said, I didn't need a camera when those deals were on & have since been waiting for 90 days for some sort of discount. So yes, your deal isn't as good or as low as those other deals have been, but it is available now and is better than the standard Amazon $98 price, so I do appreciate it.

How long must someone miss out on something they want or need in order to avoid the regret of paying more than what was available in the past even when there is no guarantee that that price will be available again?

I think that's from a Bob Dylan song.

It's a shame no one posted that deal here. I would have been all over it

EDIT: I see a similar camera that was $59.99 back in May, but it was 720p, i.e. not the same camera.

oh, when a deal is marked as expired, the thread gets moved to Deal Talk. That's why searching the Hot Deals forum quite often doesn't really give you an actual timeline of occurrences of keywords you're looking at. (when i did the search the last deali saw was almost 3 months ago) but when i checked deal talk, there was one like last week or something.

I always search both Hot Deals, Black Friday, & Deal Talk so I can get a good idea of where the price has been.

Here's a search of all Security Cameras & Webcams including dealtalk:

Here's a search of all items containing the word "Amcrest" including dealtalk:
http://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?searchin=first&forumchoice%5B%5D=9&forumchoice%5B%5D=41&forumchoice%5B%5D=44&forumchoice%5B%5D=4&forumchoice%5B%5D=38&forumchoice%5B%5D=53&forumchoice%5B%5D=30&q=Amcrest

There simply are not nor have been any deals on this camera posted to Slickdeals in the past week or the past six weeks, Staples or otherwise. There has been some on the 720p for $70 and finally on this exact 1080p model back on 7/31 at Home Depot for $70 (I wish I would have grabbed this), and a lessor deal on the same for $82.99 on 8/1 on Groupon.

I understand that this is a community of people trying to help each other out by finding the best deals possible & that in that spirit, people make mistakes. However, I think we should all try to be more mindful about posting references to deals from memory that may not be correct. Case and point:

This is simply not true, or at least it was not posted to Slickdeals. Furthermore, if Staples did have this on a daily deal, I would be willing to bet it was the 720p model, which is a different unit that the camera in this post. Either way, stating a much better deal on a different product as if it was the same product is misleading and doesn't help the discussion. I will point out however, that it was an honest mistake & isn't ultimately a big deal. I'm not trying to witch hunt or denigrate anyone but rather looking to elevate the accuracy of these discussions.

Getting back on topic, I'm typing this to point out that though there have been better deals in July, there has not been a better deal on this 1080P Amcrest camera on Slickdeals until you posted this deal at $89.99. I didn't want to wait any longer for a deal that may not come up again, so I snagged one. Thank you again :-)

always a pleasure. I have benefitted greatly from deals everyone else have posted before so I try to put something up whenever I see something and I'm not already too late on.
Glad my post atleast helped you out.

Not a bad deal, but as others have mentioned, it's not that great of a deal either.

I bought two white ones for $78.99 during Amazon's Prime Day sale, and picked up two more white cameras on eBay. Total for all four IP2M-841W cameras was $197.97

I would pay the extra 30 dollars to not have to deal with Staples. I've had terrible experiences every time I've bought something at staples.
