Rats, I just bought this Belkin [newegg.com] model for $3 more. It's already been shipped.

The why is relevant to me. And if I have a model that does not work properly(making noises) I am not worried about NewEgg not issuing a refund.

You can't use the slave sockets unless the master is drawing over a certain amount of current.

For example, if you have the TV in the master, the slaves (cable box, Blu-Ray, etc.) won't receive any power unless the TV is on.

Got this last time when it was FP for about the same price. Works great so far. Love the Master/Slave feature where it automatically shuts off power to the Receiver/PS3/Fire stick etc when I turn off my TV.

I have this surge protector and I just wanted to mention some of the quirks you ought to know before purchase.
Quirk 1. Excessively tightly spaced outlets.
If you take a look at the picture you will see that there are eight closely spaced outlets, these outlets are so closely spaced that there is less than a millimeter of space between the plug heads. In fact, they are so close they will be practically touching each other. This also mean that if you have a non-standard plug head you won't be able to use adjacent outlets. I have never seen such closely spaced outlet on other surge protectors.

Quirk 2. Only 6 of the 12 outlets are always-on outlets, the remaining 6 only turn on when the master outlet is in active use
In the picture you can see 5 grey outlets and 7 green outlets. The 5 grey outlets and the one master green outlet are always-on, while the remaining 6 green outlets on the right are off. They are powered on only when an equipment plugged into the master green outlet is turned on and consuming more than 10 watts of power. Once the equipment plugged into the master green outlet consume less than 10 watts of power the 6 green outlets turn off instantly.

For some people, this second quirk may render half of the 12 outlets useless and even more if you factor in the first quirk.
