Thanks! When I started making the list, Target was a bit higher than Amazon. Updated now. Checked the savings with Target Red Card and in my case Amazon worked out better between using my Amazon card and the $1 Digital credits. Will vary depending what people specifically get though, so good call!

my autistic 2 and half year old son could play but not these scary trucks and bikes types of blocks.

What do you call the simple brick type like this https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Stora...253560011? Looking for a set not just one piece. Thanks

Try LEGO Classic Medium Creative Brick Boxes (e.g. 10696 [amazon.com]). Not on sale now, but every year Walmart has an exclusive creative box that goes on sale around the holidays.

Damn... my attic is already full of Legos but my son loves these sets (he was a huge Chima fan before they stopped making those). In for all the small ones as I already got him the larger sets. Thanks!

I would go with the Lego Duplo bricks. They are very simple and kid friendly. Plus you can use the Duplo bricks with the normal legos when the kids get older. afrugalfather was on the right path but the wrong set. Walmart also sells a large box of Duplos bricks around the holidays.

It sounds like you are looking for the rare larger bricks. There are not a lot of options for jumbo bricks but you could go with the Lego soft bricks. Warning: they are very expensive.

Mini figures are the best indicator of a good investment. Sets that have a mini fig that is unable to be gotten anywhere else raise in value quickly. Also the more wide market friendly sets will accrue value. That means Star Wars, Marvel, DC.... Noone will care about Nexo in 5 years, so just buy them if you like them.

The limited run exclusive sets seem to gain a lot of value. All of the early Cuusoo models (Hayabusa, Mars Rover, etc) are worth around 4x their MSRP right now. And while not limited, the larger sets like the modular buildings or UCS line all seem to gain some value.

I think you are looking for Duplo. They are perfect for his age. I have an autistic son also and Lego's are some of his favorites. He age 5 and getting into the castle and super hero Lego's but he still likes Duplo as well.

This is a little nbetter than 20%. The Fortrex has only really ever been on sale (besides YMMV clearance) at 20% off it's MSRP of $100. For whatever reason Target has its "regular price" at $88 and 20% off of that. It's misleading, but it's definitely 30% off a set I have been watching pretty closely since it came out.
