because idiots buy this, sprinkle it on the ground and expect a putting green to arrive. if you mash up the dirt, evenly coat and keep it watered it works flawlessly. I have been using this for 2 years now with great results.
The reviews are horrible

Get your soil tested first. And throw 100% seed and water it NOW and let the grass get established and go dormant before the winter kicks in. Best time to do that as it isn't that hot and seeds get enough water to sprout and be established. If you want to save in long run, also throw some clover seed in there.

These codes were free until a few weeks ago. The website must've made some deal with someone to sell them on ebay that's why that took them down.

I've always had decent luck with it. Definitely must keep watered at least daily and once the grass starts growing (a week or so depending on weather) I hit it with starter fertilizer a week after growth.

you are still better off with buying 100% seeds by the pound. This mix has all sort of crap in it.

This stuff works really well for me. Pour it everywhere and water. BOOM, new green grass in 2-3 weeks.

Looking to purchase a new house and the grass barely Grows. You can see the dirt at the bottom. Would this help?

These "easy" seed is too much gimick for me. It is getting harder and harder to find a bag of seeds from a big box store like Lowes that's actually 100% seeds (also without the obligatory x% of annual rye). Most of the stuff is at least 50% coating. Actual seeds + minimum some soil preparation + some mulching covering (even grass clippings) + water = nice grass in a few months.
