Thread Details

I noticed the 2GB of "lifetime" bonus data is back for those considering switching to the new Verizon plan like myself.

I am on a 10 Gig grandfathered More Everything plan for $80 a month while the 8 Gig here is $70, but my line access for three lines would go up from $45 (one phone is on the discontinued Bring your own device and I guess I lose that) to $60.

10 Gigs vs (8 + 6 = 14GB) for $5 bucks more a month. I am having a tough time where I am getting screwed, but somehow I know that the lack of contract phones is somehow in their favor.

I also noticed they drop the $5 dollar a month charge for safety mode on all plans including 2 and 4 gig plans.

Fine print: * Bonus 2GB/mo for each new smartphone activation or upgrade as long as line is active on the new Verizon Plan size L (8GB) or above. Bonus data does not carry over.
Plan cost per month, plus $20/month per smartphone purchased on device payment. Taxes and fees apply.

To get the extra 6GB you have to upgrade or activate 3 new phones on the new verizon plan. This could end up costing you a lot more.

I have 5 lines on my account and was on the older 6GB plan (prior to the new Verizon Plans). I upgraded two lines 30 days ago and two other lines on Friday. I also added the fifth line on Monday. All done on my old plan. I changed to the Verizon 12GB plan yesterday and saw the bonus data promotion. I called customer care and she said all of my lines were eligible for the bonus data except for the line I just opened (which I thought would be the only one that would be eligible). Since I switched to a new Verizon plan after all of the upgrades/adding a line, I didn't think I'd get anything. Now I have more data than I know what to do with!

Bottom line, I think its worth the call to Verizon to see if your current lines are eligible for the bonus data. You need to be on an 8GB plan or higher. Doesn't hurt to call and try.
