AFAIK FSSS stands for Free Super Saver Shipping which is amazon lingo for free shipping $49+ or Free with Prime.
there is a built-in rechargeable battery. you can also put in batteries. I'm not sure if you put in rechargeable AAs if the solar component charges them though.

none of the reviews comment on the mobile device charging capability, not a good sign?

theres a few mentions... i wouldn't count on the usb charger to charge anything more than another lantern you have while camping. These cheap ones usually can't provide enough power for modern phones

If it used 18650s I would be all over this! if you "need" a lantern, darn cheap price

Trying to get a handle on the solar charging function. Not for cellphones, which reviews say doesn't really work (not surprising; that tiny photovoltaic cell on top probably can't develop sufficient current). I'm talking about solar charging of the lantern itself. Description says it takes 3 AA batteries, but what if those are standard (non-rechargable) AAs? Does the lantern feature some smaller internal battery that the solar cell recharges? Any input would be most helpful. TIA.

"This lamp has three AAA batteries, and can be charged with using the built-in solar chip on top, or can be charged with an outlet using the provided cable.

It also has a USB port that can be used to charge a mobile phone or other device, although I guess it does not work for the iPhone."

Maybe I overlooked the battery part, but it does not look like batteries are included.Confused

Seems like a good deal. Good reviews, and it's $8 on Ebay shipped from China.
