I hate to be a dissenting opinion, but we’ve owned this model for a couple of years and here’s our experience. First, by design, the lid has no “rim,” so when inverted, any liquid on it immediately runs off onto your hand and/or the countertop. Second, the clear plastic plug in the lid fits so poorly that it falls out easily whenever you take the lid off. I have hold onto it while blending so it doesn’t come off. Finally, the power switch is on the back side of the “pyramid” shaped base and anything spilled on the base runs right into the switch. Ours got so sticky it would no longer switch on and off and we had to leave it on and just unplug the unit until I got time to take the base apart and clean and oil the switch. Not what I expect for a premium blender.

Nice price. These were around $190 not too long ago. I should have waited and got this instead of the Vitamix which was also around $200.

I haven't kept up with Blendtec prices lately...
If I buy this at $169 now, there's no chance of it
going down to $149 in a month or two, right? Smilie

Can this one make hot soup by heating up the
liquid inside the blender itself? How about ice
cream, or turning rice or wheat into fine powder?

Thanks!

If you search for Blendtec Classic 570 it's only been cheaper twice and that was 2 YMMV deals.

I'm not sure what it's capable of making but I'm sure there are plenty of reviews online. Here's a good place to start. http://www.blenderbabes.com/blend...-and-tips/

Great blender. Everything the Vitamix is without needing a 'tamper'.

I'm pretty sure this model is discontinued, but it's no less powerful than the new ones. It lacks some electronic features and speeds, but I've been able to go from smoothies to hummus with great results.

It needs a tamper in my opinion. I love my Vitamix tamper. I use a Blendtec at work, and it struggles without the tamper.

But this is a great deal, especially if you can snag the new customer price.

What's the difference between 575 and 570?

Always plastic. I don't think you would want a glass jar
