Exp. 09/18

These are great items and $5 is amazing value. I bought their newly released 1/2 in. Composite Xtreme Torque Air Impact Wrench and got myself another MultiFunction tool.

Another great buy could be their 1/2 in. Heavy Duty Electric Impact Wrench. It's a great tool and once you regrease it right, it will last a lifetime. VERY Easy to replace and maintain as well!

These are BS coupons and extremely over inflated "real prices".

That non-contact temp gun is on sale almost everyday for $10 or less at HF. The other items are also almost always on sale for about 1/3-1/4 or less of their "real value".

good if it works for you, personally I would be hard pressed to spend $50 at HF. Find most of their hand tools are junk. Of course YMMV.

Definitely not worth spending $50 just to use these coupons, but if they allow you to use them along with other coupons then these seem pretty great...basically getting any of these tools for $5. Only if they stack though...otherwise you're probably better off using the regular coupons.

I wouldn't go spend $50 at HF just to be able to use one of these coupons, but if you are spending $50 at HF anyways..... As for tools at HF being "junk". I disagree. I have HF tools that have far outlasted my Craftsmen tools. Craftsmen is way overrated. In fact, I can't think any HF tool that's broken on me.

Agree that's an amazing tool and a great value for anyone who doesn't have/want to invest in an air compressor to run a proper impact wrench. Powered off a stubborn bolt that even a 24" breaker bar couldn't handle. FWIW, it goes on sale occasionally and I bought mine (recently) for $35.

But do tell about regreasing it right. So it's not properly lubricated out of the factory? What did you do to get at the grease points, just remove those four bolts and pull off the front housing? TIA.

SOOO terrible on so many levels.

1) The Angle grinder is often $9.99 after rebate at Menards or $9.99 at HF themselves. Identical unit, just different color plastic and sticker saying Tool Shop instead of Drillmaster

2) The IR thermometer is constantly front page here for what, $12 from some seller on Ebay. It too hits $7.99 at Menards on black friday. (And those two have more buttons/back light)

3) The multi function tool hits $14.99 on sale there and Menards.

So they want to make me spend $50 on their junk, only to pay another $5 for something I can get for barely much more.

If it's like my store--they won't let you use any coupons on anything to reach $50 if you intend to use the $5 coupon on the other product either.

To top it all off--about 6-9 months ago they switched from advertising their "normal" prices to using a completely absolutely made up "compare at" price -- the very thing that Kohls and other stores have been sued for doing. There is no comparison at those prices--they've never ever sold any of those items at those prices in their stores ever.

HF is good for a handful of random things if you shop wisely and can put up with the checkout lines and dumb cashiers making up their own coupon rules. But this is not even close to a deal.

It's not bad, sometimes you need a bigger purchase, a vice, a jack, etc. this is just icing if you are already buying something.

Hello all,

Thanks for the feedback: I understand your frustrations with HF. I do agree HF customer service could be hit-miss. Thankfully both the stores I frequent at are amazing, but I have been to a few that were not very friendly with cashiers going on power trips and denying coupons.

So if you have been on the receiving end of it, my apologies as it's not a good experience I know.

In case you missed the connection: you can buy a $50 HF Gift card and this will work just fine. You can then use this Gift card over time or even gift it.

So you don't have to buy $50 in tools by the 18th to avail this.

As you can see, similar tools are selling for far more than $5.

Like with anything HF, moving tools are a hit-miss. (re)Greasing parts is something I do as a precaution because I have found tools not greased properly, including this electric wrench.

Greasing it is pretty easy: you look at the manual and they show how to take it apart: you then just apply high temp grease as you see fit.

Right, but I have seen the same tool that still is going strong for me not work for someone else in our circle of friends, so it is YMMV.

For some reason I have been very lucky with HF tools: those that do break, break within the first 90 days or last me forever!

I shared this deal as my friends appreciated it and I thought of all the SDers here who could benefit from it as well. HF tools have a high variance in quality, but after being careful, the tools continue to work really well for us as long as we know what to expect from a cheap tool.

Hope this helps someone.

An angle grider is a dangerous tool to buy cheaply a blade breaking on one of those can be deadly enough when they're well made let alone 5 dollars from harbor freight. Anyways I love my cheap tools as much as the next person on here but there is a point when your safety is worth more then saving a few dollars =)

Thanks OP. Harbor Freight has great tools at exceptional values.

Anyway who says otherwise is a shill for those overpriced fat cat corporations.

Just a thought, can you use the coupon, return the $50 item and then keep the $5 one? Will they demand the coupon item back?

...That's because Craftsman are no longer made in the USA, they're made in China, like all the other "break-n-dispose" tools nowadays....

I've been borrowing my friend's HF "Drill Master" corded 1/2" heavy duty drill and it's been great so far. With a set of cobolt bits I've gone through almost everything I've thrown at it (including angle irons and studs) generally with ease. While I'd love to get a nice DeWalt set, I just can't justify the premium with my relatively limited use case. I'm thinking of picking the drill up for myself and maybe their portable bench which I think combined to just hit $50.

I agree.. lots of people crying but the thing is how many other stores give you anything ever...

not very many...

Harborfreight is cool with me and their hand tools are great.. their wrenches and sockets.. I got a Metric set of Impact sockets that would have cost me 4x anyplace else and they are heavy and thick.. no chance they are breaking anytime soon.

I will give you some of their stuff like their compressors and generators are not the highest end that you can possibly get but everything they sell is priced to put tools in people's hands so they can get stuff done..
