I was updating the post when you asked this. It is online and in store deal. I do not have online order option too. But it is available in all close stores.

excellent price. any idea how long this can sit on a shelf? I still have a gallon of Jarrah brown in my garage as we stained our deck with it.
website shows on sale: $20.99 at a store near me.

edit: this doc says it's good for 10+ years in the original container

Wonder how well this would go over some other stain that is about 3yrs old

To reduce the feeling that this kind of deal is rarely available, Flood cedar colored transparent stain, also water reducible oil-based, is always this price and highly reviewed. http://m.lowes.com/pd/Flood-Pre-T...oz/3374328

I need an opinion:

Would this stain work on deck stairs? Would it make the stair treads slick?

YMMV some stores don't carry the brand

It's transparent, so not well unless the original is near invisible. A solid stain is what you need, sanding first is ideal, but if not possible, power wash aggressively.
