well, ringplus has a deal this weekend for 4500 texts/minutes/MB per month for a one time fee of $29, and the allotments gradually rise to 7GB/month in 6 months. Versus 500MB/500min for freedompop, for a one time fee of $0. Phone acquisition costs also seem lower for freedompop.

Ringplus voice quality uses the cell voice network, whereas freedompop uses the data network, so ringplus has *much* better voice quality. I have one phone on each, and freedompop voice is actually inferior to google hangouts' dialer, so I just use google hangouts for outgoing calls rather than freedompop.

For new service, I'd strongly recommend ringplus, but if you don't already have a phone to port over, you'll probably spend more to get a phone for ringplus than for freedompop, so the upfront cost for freedompop might be less. But you get much more from ringplus...

Stay away from Ringplus. They'll take your plan away and keep your money. I hear they're canceling people's plans .

You really sound like Trump Smilie

These are all rumors & speculations. Ringplus CEO Karl already clarified multiple times about new TOS and those claims were false..

Ringplus long term viability is a concern. But, what are talking about is the one-time Top-up fee, even one month service already makes you break-even.

New to FP and like their customer service, as R+ CS is really non-existent.

A long time FP customer and don't understand why they don't offer voice (NOT voip) in their plans. Thing sucks about r+ or FP for that matter is the limited options of phones that you can get because of the fed checks.

Will those phones come with SIM card? Or I have to purchase SIM card for using the phone?

i have both r+ and fp for my parents and other elderly relatives. r+ edges out fp in terms of free native voice (non-voip) service and higher limit on voice, text and data, with the right promo plan. fp has its run (my parents/elderly relatives would not have a chance to try out smartphone services without them; now they cannot live without them), but i am slowly phasing them out because of the above mentioned reasons. fp needs to up its game to stay competitive, imo. i hope both stay alive.

I have Ringplus now for 6months..no problems at all..other then Sprint is still limited in many rural areas that are only a few miles away from town. I cancelled Freedom pop over a year ago, and they still try to Bill me..every month.
