New deal alert looks nice w/images but the old text based one was easier for me to read

disk 1,750 626 September 16, 2016 at 03:54 PM
I receive slickdeals deal summary alerts in my e-mail, like any thread above a certain rating I will receive a list once daily. The list is still the same but the format has changed. Since I don't have images enabled in my mail the old one was easier to read. I realize like 99% of people will probably prefer the new one. Is there a way I can switch back to the old one though?

That's exactly what I was logging on to write about!! I REALLY don't like the new format, and can't find an option to change it back? Anyone know how to do that?

I'd really like to know how as well. The new email takes up so much more space. Also, there is a dollar value next to the thumbs up that seems to be completely worthless. Money saved maybe? Money slickdeals made from kickbacks? Who cares. It makes it that much harder to see the price that may or may not be in the title.

I am not a fan. On mobile, Gmail only loads so much of an email before it decides it is too big. Hardly any of the email will load now. Overall, the new format is a total dud for me.

It seems to be happening a lot. But it does a disservice to people who are good at "skimming". Frown

Ugh!!! I'm with everyone here so far. I like to quickly skim the daily deal e-mail. The huge "thumbnail" pictures and layout definitely prevent the ease of doing so now.

An option to choose one format or the other would make everyone happy.

I just realized something else which makes this a breaking change for me, the text is no longer a link so there's nothing to click.

Can you click on the right where it says "See Deal"? That works for me.

That button is an image and I have images turned off by default. If I turn them on I can click the button.

Even though I have images turned on, I'm with you on this one. The option to not load images should be available. It would be nice if there was a link under the image that just said "link" or something.

We found a bug where we are not respecting the plain text email preference for the new deal alert email and we will be fixing that. I will update this thread when the plain text email is enabled again.

Because we are defaulting to HTML emails, you will need to disable them in your user settings to receive the plain text deal alert email. You can disable HTML emails by going to the options page (http://slickdeals.net/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions) and unchecking "Receive HTML emails" under "Messaging & Notification".

Also whats up with the thread view today. I click on go to the forum thread, you know the yellow background view, post something and it takes me back to the bloated view (with the white background). Why is that? This started happening today only

Well I have HTML enabled because I can view html that is no problem. I just have images disabled on some devices. So I think you should make it so that when you click the text it takes you to the item. But anyway I switched to text for now, I'll see how that is once you fix the plain text preference.

OK I received the text version so I guess you fixed that. It is harder to read though. There is basically the name of the deal followed by a link with no space or rating, I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like. I'd prefer if I could receive the old style HTML, or if you could change the new style so that the text is a link so that when I click it it will go to the deal.

That's not possible in text, you need html tags for that.

Yes, I mean in HTML I want to be able to click on the text and go to the deal like I could before.
