Cabela's has the Springfield XD Mod. 2 9mm Sub-Compact 16+1 4" Service Model (XDG9101HC) on sale through September 18 for $449.99. You get 10 percent off when using the promo code "STOCKUP16" to get to $404.99 plus sales tax. This is for in-store pickup. Shipping to the store is free if local store is out of stock.

With sales tax and FFL considerations, it's a good price. If you have discounted gift cards you bought on eBay, it is a great price (~$324 out of pocket before tax if you bought gift cards at a 20% discount). A few online stores have it for $420 + FFL fee.

The promo code applies to all firearms and ammo and all Springfield XD Mod. 2's are on sale.

EDIT: The sale is still live as of September 20.

Great gun. I shoot mine about once a month and carry some days next to my xd-s

I paid 475 after much negotiating at my local store. This is a great price

Love my .40 XDM. Great (and nice to look at) gun at a good price.

Does Cabela's charge you an FFL fee if you buy the gun from them?

According to an associate I talked to yesterday, you can order online and they will ship from a distribution warehouse to your store (for free) for in-store pickup. I ordered on Wednesday. It shipped in to my IN store yesterday from the WI warehouse. Picked it up last night.

They do not charge an FFL fee. They will charge sales tax for your state though.

Not to split hairs, but can a double-stack really still be called a subcompact? This is a solid deal and is starting to sway me away from the Glock 19. IIRC, these are Croatian/US built and military-derived, right? Going to shoot them both this weekend, but would love any input from regular shooters.

I live in PA but I want them to ship to the West Virginia store. They won't do it. PA store is four hours away. Oh well I had a deal alert for the mod.2 service, never though it would go on sale. Sucks! I tried a price match with bud's and it was nixed.

Awesome price for an awesome gun. I got mine last year when they did the 2 free mag promo and paid $429. Wouldnt hesitate to buy it again.

Both are good (although I've never heard of the mod 2). shoot what's comfortable for you. you're doing the right thing shooting both. I ended up with the XD and like it a lot.

Best to go shoot it. I feel the same about a 16 round double stack mag being sub compact. There is only so least a space a double stack can be.

I've had the compact 9mm for about a year and a half now and it misfires about every 25 shots. I pull the trigger and it doesn't fire. Have to recharge it and the fire again.

That's unfortunate. What brand of ammo are you using? Maybe its the ammo, but maybe its a lemon.
