Amazon runs this deal every year...2 years ago I bought 5 years worth of subscription@ $5/yr...at first I loved it. now the magazine is over run with ads and not add much useful every day home improvement stuff.I recently discovered the family handy man got a year for $6/yr a while back and I love it. family handyman is more for your average home owner with a lot of helpful tips and projects u want to try. this old house is more for people who have an old house and do projects related to that(classic trim ideas, having iron tubs refinished, etc). I still read both but I'm done with this old house issues in about 10 mins, but family handyman I read through a few times.

Yep, I am subscribed to both and you are absolutely right. This Old House is like the Cosmo of home improvement. Half the magazine is about paint colors and 10 thousand dollar specialty order cabinets or decor stuff. Completely worthless other than maybe the singular project they MIGHT have in the back of the magazine. I would never recommend anyone buy this magazine... ever.
