Prices to Europe have been dropping with the price of oil for the past year or so, with $600 round-trip flights from big hubs available for awhile now. This is just taking it a step further. If you haven't been to Europe and you've always wanted to go, this is a really good time to go because flights are cheap, but also because the dollar is strong against the Euro, making things relatively cheaper than they were 2 years ago.

To give you hard numbers: in 2014 if you spent 1000 Euros on hotels, food, etc. that would have converted to ~$1400. Today is would convert to ~$1118.
Google Flight Explorer is a great Step 0 for these types of searches.

I'm seeing as low as $366 (plus baggage) for EWR-LGW.

I suggest changing the title to include Chicago. Just found Chicago to Amsterdam for $425 on IcelandAir using Google Flights.

I recommend Berlin if you get a chance to visit Germany. You won't be disappointed.
