This is a great price.. I sold my Tab S non LTE version for $250 on ebay like 3 months ago after getting the G Pad X for free on T-mobile.. Very tempted to buy this back.

Looks to me like it can be unlocked.

I'd be in for one if Samsung were still releasing updates/fixes for these but they aren't.

There will be no more software updates with this series. There have been many critical Android security flaws fixed over the last few months but unfortunately all of these tablets will remain vulnerable.

Samsung released an OS + security update for the Tab S earlier in the month - finally upgrading to 6.0.1 Marshmallow along with the current patches (my Tab S is at home so I can't be exact, but it has either the August or September 1st security patch).

Thanks for the update/correction! This is great news and makes this an awesome deal.

Is that update available for both the wifi-only version as well as the carrier version?

thanks!

Mine is the WiFi-only model, but people on XDA with various LTE variants have also reported getting the update. With that said, I don't know specifically if T-Mobile has or will push the update (so I hope I haven't gotten folks' hopes up).

I can't speak for official releases, but this is a very easy tablet to root as well as throw on a fresh ROM. The community over at xda-developers.com is still pretty active (there's even a Nougat ROM floating about).

For anyone considering an Android tablet, I highly recommend this one. The screen is fantastic (2560x1600), and overall it's still decent hardware despite it's age (3GB RAM, SD expansion slot, etc.). I happen to have this color (snagged it on a great deal a little over a year ago for $285), and it actually looks pretty good, much better than I was expecting. I'm not sure if it includes the OEM magnetic cover, but that's definitely worth picking up if you can find for cheap.

I notice it only has 16GB on-board, but wondering if going to Marshmallow (offcially) will it support the mSD card as extended memory for apps seamlessly? I have devices with only 16GB (Dell tablet and Panasonic phone with still Android 5.x) and without a lot of hassle, the on-board memory is very limiting. Wish this was 32gb.

I agree.

This was below 200 during the sitewide 20% off sale a few weeks back (when people where buying up the Samsung qi wireless fast charger), but I decided not to due to 16gb instead of 32gb.

i have the non-LTE version 16gb. It's a great tablet but I have ran out of space for apps (and i don't have that many).
