d5500 with the 18-140 seems to be a prett good deal.
Looking to upgrade my d3100.
Body only runs about $650ish brand new on amazon.
given how new 5500 is, havent seen many deals.
Any experience on international but covered by ritz?
could get refurb d7100.....but not with this lens at this price

Minus.

International = gray market camera, another way of saying an unauthorized (by the manufacturer) import. The camera itself will work exactly the same, but there will be no manufacturer warranty support for it. Nikon goes a step further and refuses to perform repairs on any gray market cameras or lenses, even if you are willing to pay full cost (which is why Ritz is including their own 1 year warranty to replace the invalidated Nikon coverage. How good the Ritz warranty is, who knows?).

The tradeoff is cost. This deal is cheaper than what major retailers are selling US model D5300/D5500's for. Whether the price difference is worth the 'minus' inherent in this deal is up to you.

1. Yes, this is better (unless you are already invested in Canon EF-mount lenses. Which, if you are looking at entry-level cameras like the t6, you likely are not). Do keep in mind that this is gray market, which does impact the warranty (Ritz is supplying their own 1-year coverage re. this deal).
2. I don't know what that site is that you linked, but be careful if you are using it to make your decision. Just a quick glance, and I noticed some clear errors in their comparison - the Canon does not have built-in image stabilization (Canon and Nikon both have lens-based stabilization), while the Nikon does have 24p movie mode. Don't know how many other errors could be in there, but to screw up easy stuff like that... I wouldn't trust it.

While Nikon won't repair an imported D5300 most authorized Nikon repair shops will repair it as Nikon has given their blessing to repair any model that isn't brand new.

I don't have any direct experience with Ritz warranties but they have been around for a LONG time and are a pretty respected company. Ken Rockwell likes them if that means anything to you.

Some tempting deals on there. That 50mm f1.8 is a great price.

older nikon cameras can be serviced or repaired at well known repair centres like aps in chicago and another one i forgot the name. just chat with b&h or adorama and get the store names.

usually dslrs are pretty robust and you can expect the shutter to last 100,000 which is a lot for any non pro photographer. with a huge difference in price for the grey market either you can keep the money for buying a new camera or pay for repair if your camera breaks. even if you had nikon warranty it is a limited warranty and you have to pay for certain parts and pay for shipping. i dont see a reason why one would not buy a grey market. for example last year my friend bought grey market d750 for $1299 +3 year square trade for $250 that covers even accidental damage. i bought from an authorized dealer for $1896 and i have 1 year limited warranty. square trade covers shipping and has zero deductible whereas nikon official warranty is limited and does not cover accidental damage and shipping. the chances of a d750 breaking after the 30 day paypal return period is like 2% and even if it broke i have $600 towards another camera and that alone makes it totally worth it.
