another question for the plex-perts :)

I need a step by step on creating a poster image that will take the place of random images that plex put in place as the poster art for a tv series I have on my server/PC. I know I need to place a jpg in some file somewhere but I'm clueless! Thanks!

well its not random. its the metadata pulling from the tvdb or themoviedb. if you want to change it click the edit button on the lower left hand side. go to poster than it will show you the pics you can choose from. it also has the option of browsing locally for the image you want or you can put in a url.

As a follow up to this, make sure your files are named appropriately: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/...d-TV-Shows. If they're not, the poster art and such may be wrong or missing

Ok. I should have been more clear. My shows are not named correctly. I want the title of the episode first, followed by the name of the actual series. If I put the name of series first, how on earth would I know the name of the show in the GUI? It truncates the name, so all I actually see is the poster art above the first part of the show's name, not the name of the episode.
What I want is to place a jpg of my choosing as the cover art for the entire series. I know the name of the series. I only need to see the name of the episodes. Thanks!!

I should add that my server is a PC in a closet. My clients are Amazon fire sticks.

When the files are named properly, the Plex app shows the name of the episode in the GUI. Something like:

The filename doesn't actually need to contain the name of the episode, as the episode name is downloaded from online sources. This is why they have naming conventions. I add the episode name to the end of my filename just for my own usage.

like the other poster said you dont need that info in the name of the file. all you need is the name of the show the season and episode number. this way plex can pick it up and download the meta data.

i already explained how to change the picture. maybe post screen shots of your problems if you are still having problems.
