I upgraded my old Harmony One to an Elite last month and hate it. It has no dedicated numeric buttons, so the only way to input a channel number is swipe at the touch screen which is unreliable and randomly enters some sub menu you didnt want. If Harmony decided that most key functions would only be accessible via the touch screen they should have developed a better touch screen that doesnt freak out when you barely touch it.

Only feature I like more is that the activity functions go device by device to make sure every component is on the proper setting before finishing the function. With the One you frequently encountered components that were skipped so you to manually pull them up and adjust as needed.

harmony elite seems pricey...are there cheaper models that work well? I think I have a 650, and though it works for me since I just want/need rf, i really hate the inability to change the order of the activities so that what I always use is on the first activity page.

I had this same issue at first but the 2 easy solutions are what lacedup said and setup favorite channels or have the activity default to the channel number page when the activity starts to eliminate swiping. I still prefer physical numbers but the remote does so much more than the One did, not even close.

I own the elite as well...i do understand the point made earlier about the dedicated numeric buttons. For me I find myself never using that as the harmony software lets you setup favorites so I use the same touch screen and find the channel i want and click the button instead of typing in the numbers.

Regardless of all the channels i have...i probably watch a half dozen channels at max so I honestly love how the remote and hub integrate into my home automation.

Is the Elite really worth the double price (100ish vs 200ish) of an ultimate/touch?

Best Buy has a trade in offer for 100$ off the elite. New. Just bring in to the store an old harmony remote. I brought in a broken one a dog ate and they took it.
