This is also the same as the Asus RT-ac87u or AC2400 but it is refurb with 90 days warranty. I have been buying refurb Asus routers and had no issues with them, matter of fact they are the best in business in regards to consumer routers.

2.4GHz up to 600Mbps
5GHz up to 1.7Gbps

Hmm kinda wonder.. How much better is this really than the Tmo Cellspot router (Asus RT68) for someone who mostly streams Netflix etc and does the occasional online gaming with at most five cellphones, two tablets, a pc and a TV connected ? (have a Docsis 3.0 modem with 16x4 bonding on a 90mpbs or so down and 15 or so upstream)

Depends on your range requirements and a few other things.

EDIT regardless of your needs it's always prudent to wire what can be wired. Especially gaming console ethernet all the way bro.

pretty much no real difference.

It will depend on a few things:
how many users are streaming at the same time?
is the streaming SD, HD, or UHD / 4k?
are those devices wireless?
what method and speed are they connecting at?

unless you have multiple simultaneous HD or 4k streams going don't bother.

and , most importantly::: if nothing is wrong, do not do anything!

I'm tempted to get this, but why are the reviews of it so negative on Newegg? If I were just going by them, I'd stay very far away from this router.
