Good price on a great entry level AR. For those with a Cabela's reasonably nearby, that deal tops this one, considering it's slightly cheaper (especially if you want to pay with a CC) and you won't have to pay any FFL transfer fees (plus possible additional gift card savings), but for those without a convenient Cabela's location, this is still a good deal.

Anyone know if these guys will pull the 30 round mag and ship to CO? I had to bail on cabelas deal because of the 30 round mag and Cabelas isn't capable of just pulling that piece and selling the rest.

I can see why a person would own a hand gun, but what's the point of an automatic rifle? I only see these for a zombie apocalypse or shooting up a school.
this firearm isn't automatic, it's semi-auto.

As for why to own a rifle like this? A ton of reasons that you can search for on Google. Go shoot one first and then ask why. It's fun, and for now, still legal to have this and shoot it.

Also..why do some of us buy vehicles with high performance v8 or V12 engines when a regular 4 banger will do?

Answer: Because we CAN...

update: I see you pulled your post, didn't want a flame war? :-), seriously though...go shoot one and then tell me what you think.

Someone flagged my comment... I was actually curious about why someone would own this type of weapon, and you said for fun. It seems like a dumb way to spend $600, but whatever.

one reason is for fun, but we used rifles in the AR platform to hunt javelina in TX before. Because they do run in packs and they can be mildly aggressive when confronted, it's good to have multiple shot capability. .308 was preferred when hunting feral hogs which are much larger.

And if you target shoot, the .223 round is pretty cheap but a solid rifle round unlike the .22lr platform which is more for plinking. $600 is relative and is pretty cheap to me as some of my optics run over $600 alone.

Everyone has their preferred 'spend'. Some spend hundreds on wine, some on liquor, some on expensive restaurants. Some folks build liquid cooled superfast PC's. Heck, my wife is looking at a $3k purse right now for her Bday...

different strokes for different folks Interpol9.

The most important reason that the founding fathers wanted civilians to be armed is keep the government in line. To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them. Unfortunely thousands of innocent people do die in America from these types of firearms, BUT when Hitler, Stalin, Qaddafi, Mao Tse-tung (and many others) disarmed thier people, they killed MILLIONS of innocent people.

I bet they will if you ask nicely. It's a mom and pop operation and might make one of their employees a bit cheerier to get a free 30 round mag.

FWIW very few people actually die in america from these types of firearms... the vast majority of gun deaths in the US are from handguns, not rifles... (and 2/3rds of all gun deaths in the US annually are suicides)

you are correct. on average per year 20k suicides, 5k murders and 1k self-defense and mostly not semi-auto rifles. I mostly was trying to make a point of why law abiding civilians should own these types of firearms.
