First and probably only post I'll put on here, but wanted to share the deal I got with the community on what looks to be a pretty decent deal. Forgive not having pictures, and if the hyperlink is messed up, it's just as easy to go to HP's website.

HP Pavilion 17.3" Laptop Model 17t

http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/Lap...-v3a33av-1

Go to http://store.hp.com

Select "Laptops" obviously

Choose the HP Pavilion Laptop-gaming 17t touch optional for 679.99 (select customize and buy)

Select "customize and buy" on the next page

I put together this package:

HP Pavilion - 17t Laptop
Product number: V3A33AV
oSecurity Software Trial
oOffice Software Trial
oIntel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ (2.6 GHz, up to 3.5 GHz, 6 MB cache, 4 cores) + NVIDIA)(R) GeForce(R) GTX 960M (4GB GDDR5 dedicated)
oHP Wide Vision HD Webcam with Dual Digital Microphone (Natural Silver)
oFull-size island-style backlit keyboard (silver)
oWindows 10 Home 64
o17.3" diagonal FHD IPS UWVA anti-glare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)
o12GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM (1 x 4GB, 1 x 8GB)
oSuperMulti DVD burner
o6-cell 62 WHr Lithium-ion Battery
oIntel(R) 802.11ac (2x2) Wi-Fi(R) and Bluetooth(R) 4.2 Combo
o1TB 7200 rpm SATA+ 128GB M.2 SSD

Go to "add to cart"

On the next screen click the coupons link and put in code "hppav33"

That should knock your total down to $790.59.

Of course I'm sure you could add some more stuff to it if you're looking for it, but I was just sharing the deal I got. Found this to be about $350 less than the average price for these specs.

The coupon code is supposed to be available until 10/5/16

Tax will obviously come into play in most states (not mine though) Smilie

Good luck out there, and if this saves a single slickdealer a single dollar I will consider it a success!

ABCgiftcards.com has 14% of digital HP gift cards.

Note that the 33%-off code works on any configuration of this laptop. You don't have to select the same upgrades the OP did.

Thanks. Was able to get HP to credit me the difference of $90 back!

It's a 17" screen/laptop, has a DVD drive, get over it.

I actually thought about doing that. I'm just not certain how trustable that website is. I've seen some pretty frightening reviews on it. But I'm sure the old adage is true, the only people who post reviews are the ones who had bad experiences.

Hmmmm. I don't know why you would have gotten that. I just double checked it and it seemed to be working fine. Maybe just give it another shot to see if it was just a temporary glitch.

I bought the same configuration as the OP at the end of August, only I opted for the touch screen and got 8GB of RAM, buying another 8GB on Amazon. Came out to $722 after tax (not including the Amazon purchase), but that includes the then Amex $50 off $250 HP order (used to buy gift cards), discounted gift cards online, and cash back portals.

I had a Dell 7559, but couldn't get used to the 15" screen size. What made a bigger difference, however, was the keyboard feel of the HP vs the Dell. Much more solid buttons on the HP and the extra real estate space allowed for bigger keys (at least it felt that way), which, to me, translated to better accuracy when I was typing (especially on the number pad). The only gripe I have about the HP is that it was not an easy machine to open to get the RAM in. You need to remove multiple screws and get a prying tool to take the bottom cover (and other pieces) off. With the Dell, there are barely any screws and the bottom cover comes off so easily, giving you access to everything for upgrading.

OP - I had no issues buying discounted gift cards online using Gift Card Spread. As long as you're using the gift card right away (the e-gift card delivery was same day for me), you shouldn't have any issues. If you do, you can always get a refund since they have a 60 day policy. What I do is usually get my cart ready, see how much I need, then go e-gift card shopping. That way I'm not sitting on the gift cards and risk any problems later. I know you already made your purchase, but just something to keep in mind for your next purchase.

seems like a good deal, but I have an 850m currently. The 960m is only about a 20% additional GPU power. The 1060m is 200% addition GPU power. Waiting for the 1060m even at a 1000$ seems like it would be the better deal because it will last longer.

This seems like a really really good deal. I like HP laptops myself. The Envy line is very nice.
