Decent deal. Note: This version does not have MIDI or the ability to directly record a CD. Great price. Tascam recorders do take both instruction and getting used to their work flow.

Tap on the "Buy Now" button and you will see the correct price. Do not tap on the link, which gives you incorrect price.

This is a fantastic standalone home studio recorder. I paid 350 last October and couldn't be happier. I use my own preamps and get a noiseless track every time. the only thing that is touchy is the mastering. Better to master on a computer afterwards but it does do a decent quick master if you want. You do have to use only the recommended sd cards and they are a bit pricey but worth it.

I have the Zoom R24, does this have better preamps, record better sound etc?

The R24 is more portable. The Tascam is larger and more like a real console. I think the features and sound would be similar although I do not know for sure.

The more expensive DP34 has more stereo channels but they Can be switched to mono.

Be careful plugging and unplugging XLR cables from the rear 8 inputs. The plastic disk will break off if you are overzealous.
