We actually use it in the lab. Very useful for desiccator.

I have several of the E-500 units, in closets, for perhaps 5 years now--------------they seem to work somewhat, although don't expect miracles--------------price is good.

I don't know about the "new and improved" version, but I had the last version and it stopped working after a couple of months (the beads would not dry out after plugging in)

I use the previous version in a safe. Works very well and this is a good price; I paid over $20.

How is this better than the dollar tree ones. They a buck each. I could buy $14 of those. They're like knockoff damp rids.

Anyone know how well these work for dehumidifying a car during winter?

Same price at Home Depot. The link shows the older version, but I ordered five from Home Deopt last week and received the new ones. Didn't post it since it appears to be the "new every day" price.

Heh I stock up on those dollar tree ones they work nice in my gun safe, but for some reason my dollar tree stopped stocking these.

I've read about these before and these renewable ones you just heat up to purge the built up moisture and its good to go

I've had two of the E-500s for over a year now with no issues. One for the gun safe and one for my board games.

Maybe they break more often? I guess if you get 14 of them though you can constantly have two plugged in and charging while you cycle the rest and just toss the ones that fail.
