Beer review thread

I can't say I've had it either... weird huh? Actually, I went through a phase where I hated all pumpkin ales... now I like certain ones.

I like all of them.....especially when he cool weather starts to roll in...

D'oh! Well, you could've thrown it in the freezer for 1/2 hr. to chill it a bit. Or pour it in a frozen glass. Speaking of which, does anyone keep an empty beer mug in the freezer so that it's really cold?

I picked up a bomber of troegs java head stout a few weeks ago. i think i'll have that tonight. also picked up a bomber of nugget nectar...they did a limited run...get it now, or you'll have to wait until the spring.

I have 2 of those mugs with liquid in the middle that are supposed to used for being frosted out of the freezer.

Cask fest this weekend in NYC! I'll probably be at Jimmy's 43 tomorrow hoping they didn't sell out of Black Ops tonight.

Had a couple of new beers recently:

Finally sampled the Pretty Things American Darling lager on draft. It was fairly good, nice and easy drinking. A little strong at 7% but you wouldn't know it from the flavor. I would drink it again, but it is pretty expensive for what it is.

Had the Harpoon Leviathan IPA this weekend again after my original mix up with Imperial Pilsner. Not bad at all, but not one of my favorite double IPA's either.

Saw the Sierra Southern Hemisphere Fresh Hop Ale on tap this weekend also. Looks like it just came out, but I haven't seen it in bottles yet. Looking forward to grabbing more of these when I do see them.

I usually have 2 pint glasses in the freezer upside down. Some will tell you that you shouldn't drink from frozen glasses. But, I've never noticed anything negative from the way I do it. Anything that touches my beer is washed with odorless dish soap.

I see. I thought about putting a pint glass or 2 in my freezer.

I don't see what's wrong w/ doing that, as long as you don't try to lick it and risk your tongue getting stuck to the glass.

Grabbed 4 bottles of 2008 Alaskan Smoked Porter while out in San Diego... looking forward to drinking those! Got PlinyE, Hop Juice, some Ballast Point, 9/9/9 (thanks Matt!), Alaskan Stout, and a nice Carmenere while out there as well.

Oh and an AB tap handle (60% off, thanks Matt!) and 2L growler (like $8 incl. glass and fill)!

hop juice is decent but not a standout beer...i almost worked at that brewery, but it was too far of a commute for $10 an hour...stone is much closer and a lot better deals! glad you were able to get those bottles still...not too many know about that little shop in poway, they have a decent selection, but a little pricey.

I think I'm heading over to Taylor Brewing for dinner tonight. They are only 2 miles from my hotel and have their own beers along with some guest taps.

I picked up some Kalik in the Bahamas this summer...wrapped them in my clothes and into my check-in baggage. During the flight I started having visions of them exploding, Got to my home airport, no luggage, found out it was detained in Atlanta. I was a wreck til I got my bag back...They ended up making it safely...

surly furious(sp?)...nice juicy citrus, awesome pine.. delicious beer...ends a little sweet, but i love this beer! i want more
