lupulin theshold shift \ lu-pu-lin thesh-old shift \n 1. When a once extraordinarily hoppy beer now seems pedestrian. 2. The phenomenon a person has when craving more bitterness in a beer. 3. those are both reasonable... you probably can get a 750mL of duchesse for $10-12 and the cuvee de jacobins $6 for a 16oz bottle... both excellent!

I really enjoy Rodenbach Grand Cru, and agree that Cuvee de Jacobins, is great. I also like Duchesse de Bourgogne. Sadly, most sours/red ales lean towards the more expensive side. Although they are a lot cheaper than the true Gueuze and Lambics I find in some stores.
Tried a new brew this week, Blue Hills Brewery Imperial Red IPA. They are a local MA brewer. Can't say I was big fan of it. It tasted kind of boozy at 9% and the flavor was not that great. Some times you pick loser.
SO damn stoked that Shiner Ruby Redbird is back out.
I'm quoting you again as an update. I obviously read your post the first time I replied. Last night, I went to a bar and asked the bartender if they have any seasonals. She mentioned Shiner Ruby, and recalling what you said, I asked her to pour me a draft. It was pretty good, like you said! I got another one after I finished the first. These are large glasses, 20 oz pours. You can see a pic of it along w/ my friend's PBR that's in a fancy looking pint glass.
Went to the Harpoon Fest for a bit yesterday. It was a nice day to be outside and drink a few beers. Lots of people were there, probably a couple of thousand. Was mostly the normal Harpoon Brews that you can get anywhere, but they did have a Rye IPA available that I had not seen before. $20 got you in the door with one beer and a (plastic) pint glass you could keep.
