Thread Details

I've given my opinion in many places about the beer's i've tasted. Might as well have a thread about it. Feel free to add.

Currently having a Shiner Blonde.

A bit too light for my tastes, but a good Spring/Summer lager. Light, crisp, not too hoppy. Kind of like a hefeweisen without all the yeast. I tasted a little lemon at the first taste. Prett good. On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 7.

A friend brews beers and gave me a 4-pack to take home. I'll try out a couple this weekend, I think. nod

I also went to a restaurant while in Austin called Uncle Billy's by Oasis and tried a 5-sampler of beers for $5 (4 oz each). Pretty good stuff, here's their brewery: http://www.unclebillys.com/bs-brewery/ I'll post a pic I took when I get around to it.

ACBF this weekend in Boston. Lots of everyday beers, but still several new brews & breweries to check out.

Can't wait - I'm pretty excited to try some of Lawson's Finest Liquids beers - never had them even though they are the next state over. Since DFH is pouring 120 Minute I'm hoping that will be a people magnet and free up space at other booths.

Lawson's brought more then a couple beers this time! Liquid Sunshine is awesome stuff. Their booth is the first one on the very right, once you cross the venue's equator. That section & the one right after it at the very top are unfairly loaded with a lot of interesting stuff to try, new & established brewers alike.

You weren't fooling - Lawson's stole the show - the Double Sunshine was fantastic and the Maple Tripple was just a good. I was able to try Goose Island BCBS. It didn't live up to the hype for me.

just a heads up that Stone's 10th Anniversary RUINATION is hitting the shelves soon. In my opinion, this is a Stone top 3 beer for flavor... 10.8% alcohol, 5# of hops per barrel. Its bitter but backed with pure hop flavor that is amazing(pineapple, nectarines, yummy)...I wish they would make this a seasonal but we can't get all the hops on a contract....

I just picked up a four pack of Jack's Abby "Hoponius Union" - an India Pale Lager.

A really interesting beer - the smell totally reminds me of Lagunitas' Sucks - the taste is an odd West Coast IPA initial taste and lager finish. Very good stuff.

I can't believe nobody has posted to this thread in a month. I recently got Full Sail Berliner Weiss and Stone Ruination 10th Anniversary. I also got some others but can't remember what.

Over the past week or so I've picked up a few bottles of Stone 10th. It's really good and the aroma hops are fantastic. The taste reminds me a lot of FW Double Jack - almost syrupy robust. I like it a lot but the second pour took a little while for me to put down (it's that heavy bodied to me.) I found a place in semi-rural Maine that had a dozen 10th Anniversary bottles just kicking around along with some lonely 120 Minute (while folks down south are selling their first born for 10th.)

I also went up to Maine Beer Company for a brewery tour. After the tour I picked up a bottle of their new-ish pale ale "Mo" - it's absolutely fantastic - it reminds me a lot of Lunch (which a lot of people lump in with Pliny and Heady Topper) - but I like Mo just as much. Really, really good.

I hear you - I've picked up a ton of less-than memorable beers lately - I don't like to crap on disappointing beers too often but there's not been too much new lately to shout about.

Please post what you think about Devil Dancer - I saw it in the store the other day but didn't pull the trigger.
