Thread Details

I've given my opinion in many places about the beer's i've tasted. Might as well have a thread about it. Feel free to add.

Currently having a Shiner Blonde.

A bit too light for my tastes, but a good Spring/Summer lager. Light, crisp, not too hoppy. Kind of like a hefeweisen without all the yeast. I tasted a little lemon at the first taste. Prett good. On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 7.

Special Releases:
This section is a trial run and can and may be deleted if we get little to no action in this section. If you read info about a special release, please post: Brewery, Name of beer(and style if you know it), LOCATION OF THE BREWERY, and the release day of the beer.

Once a beer is established in this list, you can make a bullet underneath it if you see it at your local liquor store(maybe city and state). If you do so, please put your username behind this posting in ( ) so if others possibly in your area want more info at to what store you saw it at, they can PM you. If you want to keep anonymous, by all means don't add your username.

Lastly, if you see old info, please update it. If this list gets cluttered and never gets updated this section will be deleted.

Stone Brewing Company - Double Bastard Ale (american strong ale), San Diego(Escondido), November 5th release date.
Avery/Russian River - Collaboration, not Litigation Ale (Belgian Strong Dark), Colorado, unsure of release date. Beermenus [beermenus.com] shows it at Burp Castle in East Village, NYC.

Thanks and done. Pretty good beer with a hell of a kick to it. Tried World Wide Stout for the first time too - crazy strong stuff.

Just got my 2012 Parabola today. woot

I had some pretty heavy beers on Thurs. Wow, they're pretty strong.
Full Sail IPA
Alaskan White
Alaskan Amber

I enjoyed the AW the most, which makes sense since I prefer wheat beers. nod

I just tried my first "Two Hearted" thanks to a friendly shop owner. Given the hype I was a bit let down by it - to me it tasted a lot like a slighly more West Coast version of Smutty's Finestkind (with a bit less of an English yeast profile.)

I just bottled a Union Jack clone - the process was an unmitigated disaster, but I've learned a lesson about unattended racking (bad idea jeans) from this evening. Smilie

I did the Two Hearted a few months back - it was good but didn't blow up my skirt (like the commercial beer.) Your pumpkin ale sounds good. I may try my first "no recipe" brew this weekend - something resembling a IIPA.

Haven't posted here in a while, this thread needs some more action. bounce

I was down in Philadelphia a few weeks back and got to sample some new brews. I actually picked up a bottle of Bells Two Hearted which I have in my fridge at home right now and had a few on draft as well. I really enjoy it, but then again I like Smutty IPA a lot also. No Pliny on draft anywhere while I was in town though according the Phillytapfinder. Mad

I did finally get a change to buy a bottle of Maine Beer Lunch IPA. Been looking for that one for quite a while now. It was very tasty, a little lighter and more floral then I expected but very good. But, I think it set me back about $8 for the bottle. EEK!

Picked up a mix a six of new to me IPAs to try out.
Yard's Brewing Co. IPA (local Philly brewery) not very good at all

Philadelphia Brewing Co. Newbold IPA (local Philly brewery) better then Yard's but not great

SlyFox Brewery IPA (PA brewery) had this one on draft and picked up a can as well. Very drinkable and pretty solid, but nothing spectacular.

Mission Brewery IPA (Cali brewery) this IPA had good flavor but was unfiltered with lots of sediment, I prefer my IPAs to be filtered I guess.

Crooked Tree IPA (Mich brewery) I liked this IPA a lot and would buy it again if I see it out my way in MA.

Breckenridge Brewery 471 Small Batch IPA (CO brewery) I enjoyed this one quite a bit as well and would buy it again if I see it here in MA.

Fegley's BrewWorks Hop'solutley IIIPA (PA brewery) I enjoyed this beer a lot, but it was definitely more of a sipper at 11.5%ABV. It was very well balanced for something that strong but not a beer you want to gulp down.

Sox Cheers

Their Double Crooked Tree is out of this world good (it reminds me of Nugget Nectar). I think they only do it once per year (mid-winter) - something like 14%.

Has anyone tried "Tray-pi-sto-lee"? I'm not sure how it's spelled, but that's how it's pronounced. I had a sample of it last week and it's a heavy beer in terms of ABV but tasted like buttermilk. I'll have to look for that. Beer

Ahh, thanks. I knew it has a French name. I already had 4 pints of full beers and had to drive soon, so I only had the sample of Trois Pistoles instead of another pint. Next time I go to a bar w/ a decent draft selection, I'll ask for that. nod

Picked this up on the way home from a family trip to VT this week. Just cracked open a Double Sunshine - it totally lives up to the hype. Really, really good. Like Pliny good.
