Thread Details

I've given my opinion in many places about the beer's i've tasted. Might as well have a thread about it. Feel free to add.

Currently having a Shiner Blonde.

A bit too light for my tastes, but a good Spring/Summer lager. Light, crisp, not too hoppy. Kind of like a hefeweisen without all the yeast. I tasted a little lemon at the first taste. Prett good. On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 7.

That is the plan, just not sure if it will be at home or at the fest.

Got my hands on a few bottles of Hopslam - every bit as good as last year! So damn good.

Pulled out a bottle of Double Crooked Tree that I kept in the basement for a year. That beer was fantastic when fresh and hid the 14% booze incredibly well. As expected it tasted like a barleywine (but good). It actually reminded me a bit of Bolt Cutter.

Bought my second bottle of DFH120. Haven't had it in years and I didn't remember what I thought of it. But, at $10.99 per 12 oz bottle, it better be good. It was. Not quite worth $10.99 (no beer is). But, it's close. I love it.
i have only had the 120min once...fresh tasted like cough syrup.... but at that time i got two bottles due to a sweet slickdeals beer swap...so i have an 08 still in my fridge...waiting for the special day to pop it open...

however, i would love a fresh one again Big Grin

Very jealous. I missed out on Hopslam this year, but I did get a 4 pack of black note stout. What sucks is they don't distribute Bells in NJ, but my future mother in law lives in Michigan, so I do sometimes make her pick me up stuff. Unfortunately, the store screwed up and sold the Hopslam they were holding for me. Got a bottle you can spare?

had a jolly pumpkin maracaibo especial last week. interesting take on a brown ale. I always try their stuff when i see it on tap around here (which is not too often).

They make some great beers. All have been pretty good, with the exception of De Viento. It was a sour coffee saison and just didn't taste very good. Everything else has been solid. If you see it, try the baudelaire IO saison.

I had a couple sips of Mephistopheles beer last night that a friend ordered. Wow, that's so good. 16.8% ABV! EEK! I remember having a 4-oz sample of it at a beer fest at Flying Saucer ~2.5 years ago. nod Beer
