Thread Details

I've given my opinion in many places about the beer's i've tasted. Might as well have a thread about it. Feel free to add.

Currently having a Shiner Blonde.

A bit too light for my tastes, but a good Spring/Summer lager. Light, crisp, not too hoppy. Kind of like a hefeweisen without all the yeast. I tasted a little lemon at the first taste. Prett good. On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give it a 7.

Special Releases:
This section is a trial run and can and may be deleted if we get little to no action in this section. If you read info about a special release, please post: Brewery, Name of beer(and style if you know it), LOCATION OF THE BREWERY, and the release day of the beer.

Once a beer is established in this list, you can make a bullet underneath it if you see it at your local liquor store(maybe city and state). If you do so, please put your username behind this posting in ( ) so if others possibly in your area want more info at to what store you saw it at, they can PM you. If you want to keep anonymous, by all means don't add your username.

Lastly, if you see old info, please update it. If this list gets cluttered and never gets updated this section will be deleted.

Stone Brewing Company - Double Bastard Ale (american strong ale), San Diego(Escondido), November 5th release date.
Avery/Russian River - Collaboration, not Litigation Ale (Belgian Strong Dark), Colorado, unsure of release date. Beermenus [beermenus.com] shows it at Burp Castle in East Village, NYC.

3 Floyds makes some amazing stuff. Have you been there before, it's a pretty cool place? I have never made it out there for a DLD and unfortunately still haven't had a dark lord. I was supposed to trade for a bottle of vanilla bean last year, but the guy flaked. If you get any extra and are willing to sell/trade some shoot me a PM.

I know that will not be happening haha(Extra bottle). But the brewery is pretty cool, basically just a big bar.(Go Figure) I live in Indy, about 2hrs from the brewery. So I go there whenever visiting my parents in valparaiso.

The tickets for this thing sell out in 30 seconds, I was just lucky to get one for my brother and I.

I am aware that tickets sell out rather quickly, which session did you get?. I have a few possible trades lined up already, but just wanted to keep my options open. Although, at this point, it is probably best I don't get a bottle. If I add any more beers to my cellar my fiance may just kill me.

Any idea how much $$ I should take? I've heard people saying $500, but I think thats just way too much. The DL should cost approx $60 and if I can get a barrel aged about $50. So that + some beer there to drink...I'm thinking 200-250 top? Anything seem wrong with that?

I would take as much as you are comfortable spending on beer. my personal limit is about $20-$25 per bomber, and i don't chase beer unicorns.

If I can get a barrel aged I'm going to buy it. Probably wont drink it but just re-sell for some quick profit.

Last summer I picked up a case of Heady and decided to throw one of the cans in the basement to see what the beer would be like after all the aroma hops were faded (and how much of the aroma came from the yeast.) I wasn't surprised that it smelled (for the most part) and tasted like a totally different beer, but the one thing that stayed the same was the solid smell of peach that his Conan yeast throws off.

A buddy picked me up a four pack recently but circumstances were that the beer was five weeks old before I got a hold of it. Huge letdown - I knew that Heady is best within two weeks but I was surprised at how much it falls off the cliff after just a few weeks.

Totally unrelated - think I have a new favorite dark beer - holy hell is Imperial Biscotti Break good.

I just drank incredibly fresh Heady topper over the weekend. Was up in Boston at the extreme beer fest and the Alchemist himself, John Kimmich, was there pouring Heady that was canned only a few days earlier.

Getting $100 for 200 beers is not such a great deal. A lot of beer bars have things like that. The bar I go to has the MBA (master of beer appreciation) and PHD (professor of hops and drafts) program. The MBA makes you drink 45 unique beers. You get a $20 gift card for completing 15 and 30 beers, and a $50 gift card and tshirt for completing #45. The PHD is a total of 60 beers, 15 each season. After completing #20 and 40 you get sent home with a nice bottle, complete #60 and you get another $50 gift card and a tshirt or hoodie for it, depending on which number PHD you have. Plus once you complete your MBA or after each PHD, your 16 oz pint gets larger for free. I have been doing various beer clubs like this at bars since college.
