Matt and I had a great trade a few years ago. I gave him some Cigar City beers (and a couple other breweries that I don't recall). Namely, Hunahpu's Imperial Stout (which is almost impossible to get a hold of these days). He gave me some awesome Alesmith, Russian River, and Green Flash beers. Luckily for both of us, we didn't have to ship. I was out in LA for business and put them all in my checked luggage. On the way back, they pulled all the beers he gave me out of my luggage. I thought they were going to take them. But, they scanned them with something and then put them back in the suit case. So, they were rattling around with no protection. They all made it from LA to Tampa without incident. I was very surprised.
I once prayed to God for a bike, but quickly found out he didnt work that way...so I stole a bike and prayed for his forgiveness.

I was out in Portland, OR again for a few days earlier this month. I had a great time as usual and was able to sample many, many, new to me beers. It seems like more than half of the beers out there just do not make it out to the east coast for distribution yet, so I am like a kid in a candy store the whole time.
Of all of the great stuff I had on my trip, two that really stood out where Boneyard brewing and Block 15 brewing.
Boneyard is out of Bend, OR and right now their beer is sold in kegs only. You need to grab a pint at the bar or do a growler fill somehwere, if you want to sample some of their stuff. I had four or five different brews from them and they were all very solid. Their RPM IPA is the one getting a lot of buzz though, it is a single IPA but they have a double and I think a triple also. It was very citrusy which I like, but also very balanced and easy to drink. A great IPA for session drinking.
Block 15 is out of Corvalis, OR. From them I was able to grab one of their 750ml bottles of Sticky Hands. Sticky Hands is actually a double IPA series that Block 15 is doing and they release a new one every month. It is very hard to get apparently, but I happened to be at a bar when they got their delivery. The guys at the bar said if I liked IPAs I should definitely get one. It was just a huge IPA, hoppy, resiny, piney, citrusy, it just checked all of the right boxes. I was not able to get any more bottles to bring home though. The bar I was at got only 12 bottles, and they had already sold 6 including mine within the one hour that I was there.
Man, sometimes I think I need to move out west. Great beer, everything is cheaper, and everybody just seems more laid back.
