for now the initial rollout of the first post will stay the same for a while as people get adjusted. Then as we receive additional feedback on the voting module we'll collect all the suggestions and work on updates and tweaks.
Ultimately for now we want to keep things nice and simple for people thanks for suggestions mozartaThis is a test. Last edited by bryantq; 09-14-2008 at 03:43 AM.. The personal views and opinions expressed in this post are exactly that and do not necessarily represent an official opinion or stance of Slickdeals and this is a disclaimer in case I say something stupid. In fact, anything I say should not be taken seriously.

It looks like it keeps the formatting to me? Last edited by bryantq; 09-14-2008 at 03:47 AM.. |

I think at least should have "other reasons" for thumb up beside "Great deal". ![]() Just tried with IE version 7.0.5730.11 and can see BOLD but the Quote: is not inside any box while Firefox, quote is inside a white box. update: yes, my firefox browser problem. I think I "Zoom out" too much that the font (inside quote) don't have bold. After I "zoom in" a bit, then I can see bold. False alarm. Probably caused by the font inside quote is one size smaller than before.

Just a suggestion since people want to know why others thumb up just as much as why people thumb down.

Would it be possible to expand corner_y_y_br.gif to include the avatar? The avatars seem out of place, but maybe its just me.

Hi bryantq,
I have joined SD since Oct 2007. I like the old format a lot but I do welcome the new changes. I am still trying to get used to it. I am having some problems with this new version. First, FYI, I am using IE 7.0 (with current version of flash player and JAVA) and Vista Premium (updated to date as of today). I have no problems below when using with Firefox but it does NOT have Adobe's Flash Player installed and/or JAVA is turned off. 1. Whenever I try to copy (highlight) certain text from the FIRST post (2nd post/reply and so on is fine), all text from that 1st post just disappears. I have no problem with Firefox. Chrome - no problem also. 2. What happens to my thumb up and down or the new Thread Feedback and Voting Results? It’s not even showing in my IE browser. I have no problem with Firefox. Chrome - no problem also. The following is my personal opinion (don’t have to take it too seriously): 1. The font of the title of the post is way too big. 2. I was hoping you can still show the "join date" of the posters. 3. The user name, Posts #, and Reputation # should be as emphasized (bold & bigger font). I think that's it for now.. if I am having additional problems, I will let you know. BlueCrown Last edited by BlueCrown; 09-14-2008 at 06:07 AM.. |

Hi Bryantq
Since you are soliciting feedback, I'll jump in and give you mine.I have to agree that the title font and the public option header in the first post both seem overly large. ![]() Not to start a long debate on voting, but just to give you my first impression of the visual layout of the voting and results... I think that the display of those particular voting options (with the big block of red next to it if someone votes that way) gives off a negative impression. It's great deal, or then a slew of negative options.... Including repost, which I thought was not a valid reason to be thumbing down a post. Maybe a vote for that option does not calculate into the total, or is omitted in the calculation of the public opinion when merged? Just my opinion, but I think the list, which I notice before I even get to the deal details, emphasizes what discourages posting deals. Maybe it could be an expandable section, so that the deal is seen first, then the specifics of the voting if opened? If we cannot opt out of the new view, my preference would be for the wiki post to be able to follow the color scheme the user selects, instead of being grayed out. Keeping the unique border color around the post would ensure it stands out, while still letting users choose the easiest background color for reading text. Thanks for listening.

Here is a problem I am having. Is anyone else having this problem? When I revise a wiki post and click the submit button, all the rest of the posts on the page below the wiki disappear and I need to reload the page to get them back. I am using latest FF. It does the same thing on IE 6 as well.
