Auto Insurance filed as collision instead of uninsured motorist
So his insurance (State Farm) paid $25K
My insurance(GEICO) said it will handle the rest since the other parties insurance is enough to cover my entire vehicle.
What I see on GEICO website though is that the claim says 'collision' and a $500 deductible was applied too. So GEICO paid $3500. Out of goodwill, State Farm gave me a check of $500 for the deductible GEICO charged me
So shouldn't this really be 'Uninsured Motorist Coverage' rather than collision? And I believe there is no deductible for it too. More importantly, having this as collision on my record might increase my premium. I did ask GEICO administrator about this once, but she said it does go as Collision and there is no reason to worry about premium hike because she has it as a 'not at fault' accident in her records.
Trying to figure out if I should fight this or just leave it alone. Any inputs?
