Internet/VoIP home phone service recommendation?

454 449 196 October 5, 2016 at 02:13 PM
Currently have Comcast with Internet/TV/phone and will be dumping them, finally. I'll likely be going with a local provider for Internet/TV, but need to maintain a home phone as well. I've heard mixed results for Vonage. Any suggestions for such a service?

I have had Ooma for quite a few years and have been very happy. I pay the extra 99 bucks for premier and feel it is worth it. Call blocking works really well and voice quality is really good. Voicemail sent as email to phone or email works well. Can't beat the price after buying and paying for the number transfer cost it is just taxes.

I have used the nettalk duo. It's quite cheap and worked well for me. Support is abysmal, though. They now offer phone support, which may be better than the ticket system I had to deal with the time I needed it.

ooma here for 6 years, bill is like $3/mo. They have an app which isn't awesome but gives access to VM and outgoing calls. You get the premium for free for a month or so. Odd thing is, some premium features I enabled during the free trial are still active even though I have never paid for premium. For example, automatic emails when I get a VM. It's a premium feature that doesn't even show in my control panel since I do not pay for premium.

Now have obihai w/ gvoice at parents and in-laws, works just fine. Only headache is the initial port over and the $20 you have to pay.
