It's a recent model with many of the reviews coming out in august/september. About 2 weeks ago I was ready to buy, but it appears that the brand new laptop was no longer offered for sale - at the Lenovo site and at Best Buy (which seems to be their brick and mortar biggest retailer of this model).
As you can imagine, there were very few of the model showing up on ebay and amazon whether as new or used, and often for a jacked up price due to low supply. I kept wondering why is a new product only available for sale for a few months, and then gone - was it supply issues or maybe they found something dangerous where they had to halt production. I emailed lenovo, I asked around - no answer.
So I've been checking every day, and yesterday there was a big clue. BB's website was updated with a new, shipping 710/14" - including new model number . The big deal, and it's actually a big deal is the updated 7th gen i5 CPU.
I really wanted to spend closer to $550, and the new model is $800. I can probably sit on the purchase for a few more weeks. Does anyone have any thoughts about the price on the new model coming down, or the older model showing up more frequently as a refurb? For a few days, the older 710 model showed up on ebay, refurb at $640 a few days ago.
