I'll be old enough to buy alcohol in 19 days!

Our county is voting on allowing alcohol sales on November 8. It's expected to pass easily - the local grocery store already installed beer coolers. With the exception of two small cities, we've been a dry county since at least prohibition (yes, that was before I was born).

Cheers

Harnett County used to be that way. They started selling alcohol about 15 years ago. I wish alcohol was never invented. It's caused too many problems

It's rough not being able to buy booze on Sunday here. Living in a dry county is taking it to a whole 'nother level, though.

Yep, we had that for a long time in Texas too. Had to drive across the county line for beer and hard liquor but were allowed open carry while driving. I have fond memories of going with my dad to the liquor store, "Here Zoe, hold my beer while I drive to the liquor store and don't spill it!"

Just dawned on me, I'm old enough to remember when 'open carry' meant drinking a beer while driving. Back then, most people had guns in their cars, usually rifles/shotguns and the occasional handgun in case you needed to kill a rattlesnake and nobody batted an eye, that was normal. Heck we had a gun club in HS.

Confused How do you mean "never invented" It wasn't invented really, it was just utilized. People's fruit juice went bad but that was all they had and then they figured out that it also kept better that way and it probably saved a lot of human life over not having to drink bad water. Yeah today it can cause a lot of problems...but it helped keep a decent chunk of our species alive...so can't knock the discovery too much.
