I like them for Houseparties, because then the thread is turned into that particular HP's thread and stays that way until selections have been made.
Heads-up for survey sites, PT companies, SheSpeaks/One2One etc would just need to be merged into the ongoing threads for each. For example, there is one BzzAgent thread and we post about BzzAgent news in that thread. Same with SheSpeaks and many others. I can appreciate that someone wants to *grab* everyone's attention but a spot exists already, just bump it with your news. I rarely, if ever, go to deal talk. IMO Deal Talk is for things that have passed/already in process/sign-up is over/quota is full. Then we are just talking about the deal, not taking action. kris
freebie-ing since they were listed in magazines Wiki is the second post in a thread If someone has to ask for rep, they are up to something! ![]() |

There so much crap in Freebies to sift through what difference does more really make. I wish they had a freebie spam folder. If your too lazy to check your email then you deserve to miss out on whatever it was. I often find survey threads posted at 3am. Do I now need to check freebie for every survey company I do incase it was posted (making the quota already full) before I can even get to read the email for the survey I was invited. There is nothing more infuriating than doing 20 mins of a survey to find the quota has been filled and then going on SD to find out that someone posted the survey link 5hrs before.
If the reason behind not creating a subforum for surveys was because some survey companies have requested Mr SD not to do it then dont allow any posts related to surveys period. or let us have a survey forum. It makes not sense to me. If it's not allowed for a sub-forum, then why is it allowed at all.

Head's up - I voted other:
If it's about a deal, put it in DT. I think the ads for next week should go in DT unless the OP has posted a few great deals from it (don't just copy/paste a few items to meet this criteria, have actual deals). If it's some news thing (like some store's credit card info got hacked), put it in the lounge. If it's a recall, perhaps there should be another forum? People could subscribe to RSS feeds for this entire forum if they care about recall notices (I don't). People couldn't start new threads there, but they could reply to threads. Any threads would be moved there by the mods when they inevitably get posted in hot deals. I really like the idea of excluding posts by tag, and creating a new tag for these. There's been a request for that ignore feature for a while now IIRC. |

I voted "other". Some have already said it, but the freebies folder is become so filled with junk that I've gotten to the point that I seldom even look at it. I know I end up missing out on a lot of good stuff, but it's just become more trouble than it's worth. It seriously needs to be cleaned up somehow - whether be with subfolders or whatever.
Ideally, a "Heads-up" master thread, sticky or subfolder could be created to simply notify people. Even if comments were turned off so that all it could be is "Here's the deal and all it's details." Period. If it's truly a heads-up, people don't need to be interacting with it - not even "Thanks, rep'd". The purpose of a heads-up is to let people know that they need to check their email or whatever. JMO though. |

Many of the Heads Ups are for surveys. SD allows surveys to be posted, but thinks that having a survey forum/subforum would upset survey companies. A survey forum/subforum done well would be better than the haphazard/not very well monitored way it is now. My vote: OTHER put Heads Ups for surveys in a Survey subforum of Freebies Heads Ups for Freebies in Freebies etc just
let yourself be happy |

If the heads up is about a freebie or a paying survey than it should definately be in Freebies
If a post isn't relevant for me (not on that panel, wrong state, ...) then I just click on the dot to hide it -- this greatly reduces the 'clutter' effect for me. I appreciate a heads up - several times I've checked email, then hit SD one last time before logging off, and have seen a heads-up for an email that I wouldn't have seen till morning (by which time the product would be gone or the survey filled). Appreciate your seeking our opinions

Agree with many people in here...put them in a separate sub-category under freebies. Admittedly, heads-ups topics are 99% useless but occasionally there are ones that I would have missed since I get alot of spam in some of my emails and may not have noticed that particular deal.

Either surveys are allowed to be posted or they are not allowed it cant be both and if they cant be posted headsup threads for surveys shouldnt be posted either.
Many of the surveys dont tell you its a qualifier for PT because they dont want freeloaders that make up answers to qualify just to get the free product. Often what follows is a series of people saying DQ they are looking for females or DQ they are looking for people under 25. Yes they can be reported but by the time a mod sees the post its already too late and people lied to qualify. Last edited by Scampsters; 09-20-2008 at 06:00 PM.. |

I think they should have their own sub-forum called "heads up". I don't like heads up threads...as someone above said....I check my email daily so I don't need to be told "be on the look out for fillintheblankhere in your email". I rarely go to Deal Talk and I mostly in the Freebies. So if heads up mattered I say to put it in Freebies section.
Addicted to cherry coke... I wish they'd make it in caffiene free.

I voted for leaving them in Freebies. However, I personally think that people should show some restraint about posting a heads-up that amounts to nothing more than "Check your e-mail". If you are going to post something like that, put enough info in the headline that people can know what it is and skip it.
I don't think it makes much sense in Deal Talk. Teach a child to be polite and courteous, and when he grows up, he'll never be able to edge his car onto a freeway

If someone is worried about missing an invite e-mail, they can set up filters to flag and/or move those e-mails so that they stand out. So, I really don't see a reason to even allow "heads-ups" to be posted. However, I do think it is OK to post a heads-up for something like a free item coupon that's in a magazine. If you are like me, you get lots of magazines each month and may not get to read them right away, so a "heads-up -- look on page XX of XYZ magazine for coupon" is helpful. A survey sub-forum doesn't seem to be an option, but I can see both sides of the arguement. For those of us that don't like the heads-up posts, it would get them out of freebies. For those that do like them, I do agree that moving (potentially burying) them to deal talk is not the fairest solution either, so a sub-forum could be appropriate in that respect. The real delimma of a survey sub-forum would be the posting of a survey that was open to everyone and had a confirmed gift or cash payout. I would say that belongs in freebies, but if there was a survey sub-forum it would probably be put there. My suggestion is a single sticky thread where all heads-up posts can be made. Individual posts can have titles, so the title could be the survey site and the body of the post could have relevant info.
