I voted "other" I would like the surveys & the heads up posts to be in sub forums like the magazine thread. I also don't like when someone posts a freebie before it starts ( days or weeks in advance) I don't think a freebie should be posted untill the offer is up & running etc... It would also be great to have the houseparty threads in a sub forum...those threads have turned into nothing but lounge group hug threads.

I like to know in advance instead of getting there days later only to find the
site notice that supplies are exhausted or to be told at stores they're out. We
have Favorites menus, calendars, and SD has an Event Reminder feature. (Don't
look at me like that. I just noticed it yesterday!)
Freebie section, it's so much easier to find and lets face it, if your giving a Heads UP, it's going to be about a PT (free Product) or FREE $$
They usually have something to do with a survey.
My hope is we can still create a Heads-Up tag and a way to filter it out if
we don't already have a way of doing that.

My preference -
1) Heads-Up should be their own sub forum (like Free Magazines)
2) Surveys also need their own sub forum.
Both should be off Freebies - like Free Magazines - These two should not be combined.
Plan B - Create only a Survey sub forum and put heads-up regarding surveys in there too. This will (according to others in this thread) cut the Heads-up posts down by 90+% in the main Freebies forum.
My thoughts -
Some people really value the heads-up, others find them a was of space. Moving them out of the main area into a sub forum accommodates both of them.
I find most of them a waste of time (as I do most of the deal & freebies posts) - BUT...when one is helpful it is great. I have had several times that I had to buy a Sunday paper based on the freebie Heads-up...the freebie makes it worthwhile & cost effective.
Not everyone has a good email program, knows how to set up filters, or even has filters that work all the time (Yahoo) - getting a heads-up to go look in the spam folder can be very helpful.
I do not open and read each & every email in my in-box. I scan the subject lines and if it doesn't grab me, I delete it. With a heads-up I will be looking for something specific and so am less likely to miss it.
There are times when emails evaporate before reaching the in-box...if you have a Heads-up, you can go directly to the site and log in without worrying about missing the email.
I have used a survey Heads-ups to get signed up with the company directly. It has been good for the survey companies to have them listed here as well.
I did NOT read the responses to this thread yet, because I want to state my opinion without it possibly being influenced by other posts.
I think the survey Heads Up threads should stay in the freebies section, but I think surveys should have their own subforum. They are different enough from typical freebies that they seem out of place mixed in with posts for sign-up style freebies.
I think we need to consolidate the major survey companies into their own dedicated threads, in order to declutter the Surveys subforum. The consolidated threads should be stickied to the top of the Surveys subforum (forum stickies, not personal stickies...that way people don't start new threads because they were too lazy to search for the consolidated one).
Over the past few months, I tried starting a lot of Heads Up threads, because I was sick of seeing the Freebies forum littered with a million random surveys threads, most of which fell under only a handful of different survey companies. I know many people have sent me PMs thanking me for the threads and trying to clean up the forum; however, just as many people let me know that they think the threads are useless. Several have told me I was only starting the consolidated threads because I wanted to increase my reps (which personally mean nothing to me). I was also emailed by a SD administrator, who wanted to let me know that my Heads Up threads didn't "play by the rules," because I referred to them as "Official." He showed me examples of "Official" threads (one of which was my own) and attempted to compare them to the other Heads Up threads that I started. I failed to see the difference between them, but I changed the titles to "UNofficial" anyway, simply to follow the rules. I got sick of being criticized for trying to help/clean up the forum, so I just stopped making the new Heads Up threads. There are several very good companies which still don't have one (20/20 Research, Datatelligence, In-Home Product Testing, etc.).
So to summarize my opinion, What I would like to see is:
* Surveys Forum (or subforum of Freebies)
* Stickied consolidated posts for the 20 or so major survey companies
* REQUIREMENT that posts be made in the consolidated threads unless the incentive is so valuable that the survey is deserving of its own thread.
* REQUIREMENT that survey company bashing be done in threads other than the official Heads Up threads. It really gets annoying to see endless posts about how much people hate a particular company mixed in with the Heads Up posts.
Firstly official threads for surveys dont work people will continue to make their own threads in the hope of getting reps and upping their post counts.
There are hundreds of survey companies should we make an official survey thread for each one and then when we get a survey is in our email scan through all the threads to find the Official Survey ABC thread and anyway the reason for not creating a survey subforum was given multiple times as many survey companies requested SD not do it.

Head's up threads are the main reason I don't visit Slick deals any more and the main reason I have stopped posted deals. The Freebie forum is just a mess of flotsam and junk and head's up posts for surveys people have to be invited to. I don't have the time to wade through all the debris cloogging up the forum. Same goes for the mag forum now - half the posta are fake free trial offers that don't do anybody any favors.
