Thread Details

with winter coming up flat tires are numerous here in the snowy city of chicago. I hit a pot hole and had a flat. gas station wanted $20, sear's wouldn't wrk on it b/c the tread was too low. walmart fixed it for $10. they had a disclaimer "walmart does not visually inspect tires for wear" so they'll fix anything. awesome for a cheap fix.

walmart's prices are a bit out dated IMHO, but i'm not complaining. bounce

Does it work for knife slashes?

This seems insanely expensive. The shop near my house charged $5 for a plug, and $6 for a patch (always get the patch, it's more work and takes longer but it's a better seal and won't pop out if it hits something).

No, you can't effectively fix damage to the sidewall. If they knifed the tread though, that can be patched.

I just got 2 tires mounted, balanced and rotated with the front ones for 30$ at walmart. Good service <--- YMMV

I only ever get tire mounting from them...and at $3.50 a tire I can't complain. However, I wouldn't trust them to do any maintenance on my car like flawlessly says. I always carry-in.

Sears is the only place that does a patch & plug. Go with Sears.. $19.99 and it's free if you get another flat on the same tire from running over something else.
