Thread Details

In this forum, we are all here to help each other and learn. (Crikey. Almost two years since I have joined and someone had to explain what a particular smiley meant just last week. Stick Out Tongue) I learned something from a wise q girl a long time ago...."A coupon is a form of payment." Armed with that knowledge, don't fear using the q as long as you are using them as the manufacturer states.

I know there are a couple of websites around that offer to teach you how to coupon shop for a fee. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you there is NO NEED to pay anyone a fee to learn to shop. Smilie All you need is SD and the coupon love you can get here is amazing.

Coupon shopping takes one thing....the confidence to learn and try. It can be scary but you can do it. Again, no need to pay someone. There are many many Jedi masters here that like to help Padawans.

I know it seems like SD can be overwhelming. Especially for those with little time to peruse the entire board. Here are some of my fave threads...

Here's a thread with the rules. I like it because the first two posts have a good list of abbreviations for nooblets. There is some really good info in it too. Not just boring old rules....

I have a coupon question:

Say I have a full value coupon for a box of granola bars, and a store is having a bogo free sale on the same product. Could I use the full value coupon for one box and get the other box free? Or is there a policy against that?
That requires a store specific answer. Most stores, yes, but there are probably stores that don't allow that. & you did not specify what type of "full value coupon" -- if it was an internet printed coupon then MANY stores will not accept a FREE self print coupon --- only magazine, newspaper insert or direct mailer free coupons...Most stores have their coupon policy posted on their website, some have a printed coupon policy at customer service, either way, try to get the policies for your local stores.

Take for example the new newspaper insert manufacturer's coupon Free Good n' Natural Bar ( up to $x.xx). If the bars were B1G1 sale at CVS then you could walk out with two bars for free. That is perfectly valid according to the fine print of the coupon & CVS' coupon policy.

Q Orgainization Help: I am new to the world of Q's and see that there are lots of different organizational systems (binders, special binder inserts, pencil bags, how to weed out old coupons, etc.) Thanks.

Organizing Coupons: What advice can veterans give to a person who is new to Q shopping? Particularly, how do you organize, weed out, separate for stores, etc... Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

There used to be an active thread for this discussion. If you start reading here you'll find all kinds of different methods of organization. (click on Cutting Couponing Costs, top right to read more than just this one post)

I usually don't cut my insert Qs and have them stacked on a bookcase, but my coupon holder is primarily for things I print and what few paper Qs I end up with (home mailers, hangtags, etc).

My suggestion is to try something. If it doesn't work, tweek it until it does. I have a friend who uses a pencil holder, but one section is devoted solely to Target. I mix my Target coupons in where the product MQs would be. Hope this helps.

Is there a thread or discussion anywhere on how to file taxes running a couponing business by selling stuff obtained through couponing on eBay or Amazon? I'm trying to do it now and am trying to get through some complications. I know this doesn't qualify me as a "new coupon user," but I think this is the best place to ask.
TIA!

I don't resell, but I'd ask in the Garage Sale, as more of those folks buy to resell than anywhere else on SD.

I had a coupon loaded to my card at Rite Aid and it didn't come off. Decided to talk to customer service and they told me I am not allowed to use more than 2 coupons on the bogo 50% sale. She told me that means that I am only allowed to use one coupon that starts with 49 and one coupon that starts with 5. Did anyone else heard anything about that. She said it clearly states it in the policy.

You didn't specify what the RiteAid coupon & what the MQ were.

If the loaded coupons was something like $/2 and the MQ (starts with 5) was $/2, I would say the rep was correct but if the Qs were $/1 then you should have been able to use more than 2 coupons.

Anyway, I am no expert on RiteAid -- I just go in for the ice cream stand and clearance.

It was $1/1 item that was loaded to card and in store I used $1/1 item coupon. Then I also used 2 rite aid coupons.

p.s Alright just got off the phone after getting able to talk to the higher manager possible at corporate. She said that in BOGO % sale, you can use 1 coupon with 49 code and 1 coupon with 5 code and that will be passing this information around to stores to make sure everyone get this correctly, She said they don't get reimbursed by manufacturers when items is at the % sale off. That makes me wonder when I asked if it's only Rite Aid that does that. Her reply was she doesn't know the policy at the other stores...so. blah

I clip 20 insert every weekand wanted to know the best binder for that many as my current binder is overflowing and it's starting to rip. Can anyone here provide me with a purchase link of a recommended binder or of a 5 inch single binder?

Thanks

I've got 12 inserts a week, and up until recently used the binder method as well. I never found 1 single binder big enough and durable enough to hold them all, so I had 2...one for groceries and one for HBA. I dubbed them my "Publix" binder and my "CVS" binder.
Both of my binders are Case-It brand, 3", zipper binders.

Trying to put that much weight in one binder, I found that the rings wore out very quickly, and I'd open it up to find they had come open and pages were falling out. Big hassle. Frown
