In this forum, we are all here to help each other and learn. (Crikey. Almost two years since I have joined and someone had to explain what a particular smiley meant just last week. Stick Out Tongue) I learned something from a wise q girl a long time ago...."A coupon is a form of payment." Armed with that knowledge, don't fear using the q as long as you are using them as the manufacturer states.

I know there are a couple of websites around that offer to teach you how to coupon shop for a fee. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you there is NO NEED to pay anyone a fee to learn to shop. Smilie All you need is SD and the coupon love you can get here is amazing.

Coupon shopping takes one thing....the confidence to learn and try. It can be scary but you can do it. Again, no need to pay someone. There are many many Jedi masters here that like to help Padawans.

I know it seems like SD can be overwhelming. Especially for those with little time to peruse the entire board. Here are some of my fave threads...

Here's a thread with the rules. I like it because the first two posts have a good list of abbreviations for nooblets. There is some really good info in it too. Not just boring old rules....

LASTLY......don't be afraid to ask! Read the wiki. (What's a and/or Wiki? It's the first post after the initial post in a thread. It can be updated by any registered user. Just like Wikipedia!) And then if you still have a question, I am sure someone will help. PM, IM, phone a friend or bat call. Just ask. Smilie

2012 Coupon Insert Schedule

Where can I use store q and manu q on the same item? TYVM Plgffl & MommieD
  • Target- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q on one item.
  • CVS- Yes you can use a cvs q and a manu q on each item.
  • Publix- Yes you can use a publix q and a manu q on each item.
  • Kroger- You can use Kroger coupons with manu q's, but not e-coupons (electronic coupons; such as shortcuts, cellfire, Kroger loadable coupons, etc).. *the register no longer allows for both an EQ and MQ to be used together on one item*
  • Walgreens- Yes you can use a wag q and a manu q. (Register won't allow more coupons than items in order) *always use the MQ first, then the Walgreens IVC (instant value coupon)*
  • Petsmart& PetCo- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q at those stores.
  • Rite-Aid- I beleive you can, I have , but I am not sure of the official policy.
  • Update on Rite-Aid policy: They do allow store q along with manufacturer q's. This was told to me by a store manager when I was in CA recently.
  • Meijer - Yes you can use Meijer Mealbox or Meijer discount Q's from ads with a manu q.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club - register flags possible duplicate but allows both BJ's and manu q.
Those are the only stores that I know of or that I have shopped at that have both store coupons and mq.

Add to the list of stores that accept both coupons on one item: Safeway and Albertsons and Fred Meyer.

The best thing is to email your stores and ask for a copy of their official coupon policy.

NonoYou can rep and leave a nice comment, but it won't add rep points until you have more posts. The points don't really matter, it's the rep comments that are fun to read. Big GrinEvil
I second that! The rep points are a nice bonus, but are really irrelevant. It all depends on how active you are and for how long. But the comments are always fun

I have tried several different methods and the one that finally worked the best for me is a plastic sterilite box, shoe box size. I label a 3x6 envelope for each category. Not only grocery items, but I also have categories for "CVS rainchecks", "catalinas","Gap coupons", etc. The box fits in the child seat portion of a shopping cart (my kids no longer do, lol). I have my shopping list written on an envie, and I already pulled the qs out at home. But if I run into a clearance or unexpected sale, I still have my box to find the corresponding qs.

HTH someone!

I haven't read every thread, but I would love to learn some tips for gathering more inserts!
My tip is to find a dependable & affordable clipping service. I only buy the individual coupon's I need instead of the whole insert. Also trading is a great idea. Hope that helps.

Welcome!!

I guess it depends on your couponing style. If you are only doing deals that suit exactly what you want to buy for your family, pets, gramma etc then that is probably a good way to do it.

But what if you realize there is a deal coming up that pays you to take toothpaste home? Even though you didn't need toothpaste it sure would be nice to get the RR's or Ups ( or Downs whatever you RA'ers do! Stick Out Tongue), the overage towards the rest of your groceries or even gift cards. You look around and all the toothpaste q's are sold out on every site or da 'Bay has them for astronomical prices. You might wish you had the inserts then. Wink Just trying to provide you with a different perspective....

Big Grin I think buying newspapers is the way to go --- I get two copies of the main local paper, one copy of the smaller local paper, & one copy of the Spanish language paper --- add in the huge amount of tearpads, blinkies, coupon booklets & flyers found for free in stores --- that is enough coupons that I end up throwing out a shoe box full of coupons per month.

I'm new and excited to get into this couponing thing. Made my first coupon heavy purchase at Kroger. Got a $40 purchase for $19. Big move for me using only IPs. Right now concentrating on Kroger so I don't get overwhelmed. Hoping to branch out to RA eventually.

Congrats! 50%+ off is great!!!! You've definitely got the right idea to start with one and then add another as you get comfortable. Best of luck!

Reps are back...for now. Stick Out Tongue I owe loads of gratitude to everyone that got me where I am! Read the *NEW* CVS FAQ and post your questions there. Let's keep the deal threads deal-related, please.
Would it kill you to read the wiki? Or to read the thread? All the experts got to where they are by reading...you can too.

Just wanted to chime in and say that's a great way to start, 1 store at a time. It can be so overwhelming at first but grasping one store and their policies at a time is the trick. I missed last year CVS because I was learning frys (kroger) and now this year I can participate in the cvs bf sale which I've learned in between.

I have a coupon question:

Say I have a full value coupon for a box of granola bars, and a store is having a bogo free sale on the same product. Could I use the full value coupon for one box and get the other box free? Or is there a policy against that?
