In this forum, we are all here to help each other and learn. (Crikey. Almost two years since I have joined and someone had to explain what a particular smiley meant just last week. Stick Out Tongue) I learned something from a wise q girl a long time ago...."A coupon is a form of payment." Armed with that knowledge, don't fear using the q as long as you are using them as the manufacturer states.

I know there are a couple of websites around that offer to teach you how to coupon shop for a fee. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you there is NO NEED to pay anyone a fee to learn to shop. Smilie All you need is SD and the coupon love you can get here is amazing.

Coupon shopping takes one thing....the confidence to learn and try. It can be scary but you can do it. Again, no need to pay someone. There are many many Jedi masters here that like to help Padawans.

I know it seems like SD can be overwhelming. Especially for those with little time to peruse the entire board. Here are some of my fave threads...

Here's a thread with the rules. I like it because the first two posts have a good list of abbreviations for nooblets. There is some really good info in it too. Not just boring old rules....

Thread with suggestions and ideas for coupon organization.. ** Credit goes to mrsjawshewa and NCSUFire**

2012 Coupon Insert Schedule

Where can I use store q and manu q on the same item? TYVM Plgffl & MommieD
  • Target- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q on one item.
  • CVS- Yes you can use a cvs q and a manu q on each item.
  • Publix- Yes you can use a publix q and a manu q on each item.
  • Kroger- You can use Kroger coupons with manu q's, but not e-coupons (electronic coupons; such as shortcuts, cellfire, Kroger loadable coupons, etc).. *the register no longer allows for both an EQ and MQ to be used together on one item*
  • Walgreens- Yes you can use a wag q and a manu q. (Register won't allow more coupons than items in order) *always use the MQ first, then the Walgreens IVC (instant value coupon)*
  • Petsmart& PetCo- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q at those stores.
  • Rite-Aid- I beleive you can, I have , but I am not sure of the official policy.
  • Update on Rite-Aid policy: They do allow store q along with manufacturer q's. This was told to me by a store manager when I was in CA recently.
  • Meijer - Yes you can use Meijer Mealbox or Meijer discount Q's from ads with a manu q.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club - register flags possible duplicate but allows both BJ's and manu q.
Those are the only stores that I know of or that I have shopped at that have both store coupons and mq.

Add to the list of stores that accept both coupons on one item: Safeway and Albertsons and Fred Meyer.

The best thing is to email your stores and ask for a copy of their official coupon policy.

I just picked up a bunch of inserts from the recycle bin in town. Some of the coupons weren't a part of a 'pack'--how would I know if they are SS or RP or from which week?

I hate it when that happens! Mad In this case, if ANY of the inserts seem to be together, look at the spine of the insert - the date will be on there & obviously you can read either SS or RP on cover. If they are scattered (like one of my apt neighbors who just throws them in recycle bin helter skelter), I just keep them in a pile on my desk. Go through them though, once you coupon a while you will remember seeing the same coupons before & may be able to place it in appropriate folder or whatever system you use. You can also go to the couponmom.com database if you're so inclined to place coupons - I'm too lazy to do this or maybe my pile is much smaller than yours. Otherwise it's just a game of checking that folder or pile everytime you are looking for a coupon. It's not the most fun game, but it helps keep your mind nimble remembering what's in the pile. HTH

Well, Iíve been on SD for around 3 years now and have been couponing for about 2 months. I guess I normally do not venture far from the ďHot DealsĒ page on SD, but Iíve noticed so many of the couponing blogs I used referring back to posts here that I should check it out. My initial thought is that the format of the forums will be a little harder to follow and time consuming compared to your traditional blog. Any suggestions on sifting through the thousands of posts on SD would be greatly appreciated.

On the current topic of this thread: coupon organizationÖ.Wink

Iíve found that a binder and spreadsheet work well for me. I cut out what coupons that I know I am going to use in the next day to two (Electrasol, Vit. Water, etc.) and the rest get three hole punched and go into the binder by section and then I find them using my spreadsheet. I can type into the spreadsheet faster then I can cut out a coupon. Iíve recently started an overflow box since my 3 inch binder is overflowing. There I keep all of my extra adds filed by date. I plan to bring that box with me to the store, but to leave it in the car. We donít have kids yet, so it is easy enough for me to run out to grab a coupon for a hot deal.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who are their deals on here. I look forward to continuing my couponing journey with you!bounce

i've been doing this for about 1 month, mainly CVS and i get really nervous when doing deals especially when its CVS on campus at my college, mostly college kids go there and i hate holding up the line and having everyone stare at with my coupons. i have the off campus stores, still get a little nervous but not as bad. its a lot harder for me to go to the off campus CVS stores

My policy is take as many as you want - just leave a few for others. Same with purchases. If there are only 3 items I want on the shelf I will take two and leave one for someone else. It's my gesture to the universe that there is plenty for all and the universe always reflects that back to me by providing products on shelves - even at cvs. (It sounds kind of goofy, but it works for me)

Ok, newbie mistake. I was poking around the boards today and read that you cannot copy IPs and they are associated with your IP address....

So, yes I've done it and yeah I know DUH. Now I know.

My questions are:
1. Are the police going to show up at my house and charge me with fraud?
2. Most sites will let you print two, so can I just print one and make a copy of that? The reason I ask is that I hate printing out all the other junk that prints on the page twice.

Thanks for the help. Everyone has been wonderful here so far. There is SO much to learn.

1) highly unlikely. If a ton of copies of your bricks or smartsource printables were redeemed, the worst they would probably do is make it so your computer can't print any more of their coupons. Well I guess if you had sold a bunch then they might try coming after you.
2) No. The printables that have a unique pin on them will print out a new unique pin for each print.

Suprmeko has already answered you, but I wanted to add: coupon fraud (even unintentional) means two things: 1) the stores don't get reimbursed 2) the stores make it more difficult for us to use coupons (and sometimes a 3rd thing: you get banned from a store or prosecuted for passing fraudulent coupons). Always read the coupons you print out -- it says right on them that they can't be copied or reproduced.

Actually, reading is 90% of successful couponing:

Reading coupons
Reading sales flyers
Reading these boards and those like them
Reading signs in the stores

The other 10% is math -- and a calculator will take care of that for you.

WHERE ARE YOU? If you only post "I WENT TO MY LOCAL STORE and..." and you do not indicate the city/location of that store and your location is not in your profile so that it displays under your screen name, your post IS NOT HELPFUL at all. SO, PLEASE IDENTIFY YOUR LOCATION! Or take your post off to the appropriate blog. Thank You.

Thanks Karmalaw...I know it says it on the coupons, but what I didn't understand is why I could print more than one copy, but couldn't just copy the original. I didn't know that there was a unique code on each. It is not like I made a million copies and spent thousands of dollars of copied coupons...at the most it was $20 worth. Yes I know $20 is $20, but I wouldn't have done it had I known...and now I do.
