In this forum, we are all here to help each other and learn. (Crikey. Almost two years since I have joined and someone had to explain what a particular smiley meant just last week. Stick Out Tongue) I learned something from a wise q girl a long time ago...."A coupon is a form of payment." Armed with that knowledge, don't fear using the q as long as you are using them as the manufacturer states.

I know there are a couple of websites around that offer to teach you how to coupon shop for a fee. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you there is NO NEED to pay anyone a fee to learn to shop. Smilie All you need is SD and the coupon love you can get here is amazing.

Coupon shopping takes one thing....the confidence to learn and try. It can be scary but you can do it. Again, no need to pay someone. There are many many Jedi masters here that like to help Padawans.

I know it seems like SD can be overwhelming. Especially for those with little time to peruse the entire board. Here are some of my fave threads...

Here's a thread with the rules. I like it because the first two posts have a good list of abbreviations for nooblets. There is some really good info in it too. Not just boring old rules....

And then if you still have a question, I am sure someone will help. PM, IM, phone a friend or bat call. Just ask. Smilie

Thread with suggestions and ideas for coupon organization.. ** Credit goes to mrsjawshewa and NCSUFire**

2012 Coupon Insert Schedule

Where can I use store q and manu q on the same item? TYVM Plgffl & MommieD
  • Target- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q on one item.
  • CVS- Yes you can use a cvs q and a manu q on each item.
  • Publix- Yes you can use a publix q and a manu q on each item.
  • Kroger- You can use Kroger coupons with manu q's, but not e-coupons (electronic coupons; such as shortcuts, cellfire, Kroger loadable coupons, etc).. *the register no longer allows for both an EQ and MQ to be used together on one item*
  • Walgreens- Yes you can use a wag q and a manu q. (Register won't allow more coupons than items in order) *always use the MQ first, then the Walgreens IVC (instant value coupon)*
  • Petsmart& PetCo- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q at those stores.
  • Rite-Aid- I beleive you can, I have , but I am not sure of the official policy.
  • Update on Rite-Aid policy: They do allow store q along with manufacturer q's. This was told to me by a store manager when I was in CA recently.
  • Meijer - Yes you can use Meijer Mealbox or Meijer discount Q's from ads with a manu q.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club - register flags possible duplicate but allows both BJ's and manu q.
Those are the only stores that I know of or that I have shopped at that have both store coupons and mq.

Add to the list of stores that accept both coupons on one item: Safeway and Albertsons and Fred Meyer.

The best thing is to email your stores and ask for a copy of their official coupon policy.

I have a question and hope someone here can help. I dont normally shop at Walgreens, but went and got one of their deals - the Old Spice body wash/got $4.50 RR. I also bought two bottles of Zyrtec and got a $10 RR.

If I walk back in to Walgreens and just grab one Old Spice body wash, use the RR, will it print me another $4.50 RR?

Thanks in advance heart
No, RR's don't roll. You can't use one from a deal on the same deal, and expect to get another RR. You could use the $10 Zyrtec RR on it (with additional merchandise to get to $10, of course), and get another $4.50, but you can't use the $4.50 OS one if you want another OS RR.

However...there do seem to be some rare exceptions where you can roll an RR on the same deal, but the Wags weekly thread would be the place to ask that one.

Reps are back...for now. Stick Out Tongue I owe loads of gratitude to everyone that got me where I am! Read the *NEW* CVS FAQ and post your questions there. Let's keep the deal threads deal-related, please.
Would it kill you to read the wiki? Or to read the thread? All the experts got to where they are by reading...you can too.

Yes, this is the place to ask and welcome to slick deals! (joining SD is the smartest thing you've done so far this year!!!) Go to couponmom.com and look around. I'm pretty sure she had discounted newspaper subscriptions there - unfortunately for me none in my area. If that page is not there, you can use her site to learn more about couponing as well as print coupons (and her site is free to join).

Not necessarily.

There is a schedule for coupon inserts.

The general rule of thumb is a SmartSource and a RedPlum insert most weekends, except the Sunday preceding a holiday, while Proctor and Gamble are (pretty much) monthly.

In addition, not all newspapers carry the same version of the inserts. Both SS & RP have regional differences that can effect the value of the MFQ or whether the MFQ is included at all. For example, my local newspaper doesn't get the P&G inserts and gets the smaller version of SS. The Philly newspaper gets the P&G and the bigger SS, but just recently stopped getting the RP.

My local Sunday paper is $1.50. On Monday, a few stores sell it discounted for .75 cents - if I can find any left.

There are some dollar stores that sell discounted Sunday papers. Call around in your area to see if any stores near you do. Then, before you buy the paper, take it to customer service or the register, and go through it to make sure the q inserts are in there. Sometimes you get a paper without the inserts (people steal these), so always be sure to check. I suggest doing it at CS so the store doesn't think YOU are trying to steal the inserts.

Noob here at SD. Have been using coupons for 20yrs but, it's only been the last 2yrs that I realized how much FREE stuff you can actually get using coupons. Just found this web-site last week. Guess I'm a little slow to game laugh out loud

Have a few questions that I hope someone can help me with ?

1. Is there a Target thread ?
(absolutly heart WAGS & CVS threads thx to MFH)

2. How do you use the multiple quote function ?
(oops, my lack of computer skills are showing)

3. When will my reps for someone else start counting ?

4. What happened to CVS clearance thread ?
(Is it locked Confused)

TIA for any help

Welcome ShopSmart10!

Let's see...

1. Target thread... Linly Be careful....there are some very nice people and there are also some barracudas in there. Teehee There are also a couple of chat threads for more leisurely, OT allowed, types of conversations. They are in the Lounge. One actually used to be a KMart chat thread. But it is my preferred thread for these types of discussions. VERY friendly girls. Smilie

2. As you are going along a thread and you want to quote more than one person when you get to the end of their post, just hit the MQ button on the bottom right. Then when you get to the last person you want to quote, hit reply. The next screen will come up with everyone you want to quote.

3. Oh jeez...my feeble brain. It's been awhile. laugh out loud I want to say that reps start counting after you have made a certain number of posts. 20? 50? Crapinsky. I can't remember. EDIT: Ahhhh! Here it is!! Linly Bear in mind that posts that you post in chat threads don't count towards your overall post count too. Clear as mud? laugh out loud

4. And lastly, here is our very own KMA's CVS clearance thread. Linly. woot She is a very big help here in the noob thread. Smilie

Well that would explain it...I've never been to the Lounge. laugh out loud If it's not Publix or CVS, I missed it, no matter how good a deal it was. No wonder I'm out of the loop!

Roll My real start on SD was TL. After that first Christmas, I was bored and ended up in there. Hilarity ensued. I do love me some deals, but TL is my home. Smilie
