In this forum, we are all here to help each other and learn. (Crikey. Almost two years since I have joined and someone had to explain what a particular smiley meant just last week. Stick Out Tongue) I learned something from a wise q girl a long time ago...."A coupon is a form of payment." Armed with that knowledge, don't fear using the q as long as you are using them as the manufacturer states.

I know there are a couple of websites around that offer to teach you how to coupon shop for a fee. I just wanted to take a moment to tell you there is NO NEED to pay anyone a fee to learn to shop. Smilie All you need is SD and the coupon love you can get here is amazing.

Coupon shopping takes one thing....the confidence to learn and try. It can be scary but you can do it. Again, no need to pay someone. There are many many Jedi masters here that like to help Padawans.

I know it seems like SD can be overwhelming. Especially for those with little time to peruse the entire board. Here are some of my fave threads...

Here's a thread with the rules. I like it because the first two posts have a good list of abbreviations for nooblets. There is some really good info in it too. Not just boring old rules....

Thread with suggestions and ideas for coupon organization.. ** Credit goes to mrsjawshewa and NCSUFire**

2012 Coupon Insert Schedule

Where can I use store q and manu q on the same item? TYVM Plgffl & MommieD
  • Target- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q on one item.
  • CVS- Yes you can use a cvs q and a manu q on each item.
  • Publix- Yes you can use a publix q and a manu q on each item.
  • Kroger- You can use Kroger coupons with manu q's, but not e-coupons (electronic coupons; such as shortcuts, cellfire, Kroger loadable coupons, etc).. *the register no longer allows for both an EQ and MQ to be used together on one item*
  • Walgreens- Yes you can use a wag q and a manu q. (Register won't allow more coupons than items in order) *always use the MQ first, then the Walgreens IVC (instant value coupon)*
  • Petsmart& PetCo- Yes you can use a store q and a manu q at those stores.
  • Rite-Aid- I beleive you can, I have , but I am not sure of the official policy.
  • Update on Rite-Aid policy: They do allow store q along with manufacturer q's. This was told to me by a store manager when I was in CA recently.
  • Meijer - Yes you can use Meijer Mealbox or Meijer discount Q's from ads with a manu q.
  • BJ's Wholesale Club - register flags possible duplicate but allows both BJ's and manu q.
Those are the only stores that I know of or that I have shopped at that have both store coupons and mq.

Add to the list of stores that accept both coupons on one item: Safeway and Albertsons and Fred Meyer.

The best thing is to email your stores and ask for a copy of their official coupon policy.

The clerk at CVS told me today that "they have been instructed by corporate to no longer accept printed out manufacturer's coupons". So I was turned down when I tried to use my two coupons I had printed out from the Benefiber site. He also said that the company websites were fake, that these coupons were coming from. What do I do? There is no coupon policy print out on the CVS site that I can see.

All you can do right now is wait until corporate is open on Monday, and call them. Pretty sucky for them to do this on a weekend. It may be rough and bumpy ride at CVS for a while, but this too shall pass.

Reps are back...for now. Stick Out Tongue I owe loads of gratitude to everyone that got me where I am! Read the *NEW* CVS FAQ and post your questions there. Let's keep the deal threads deal-related, please.
Would it kill you to read the wiki? Or to read the thread? All the experts got to where they are by reading...you can too.

Tried the Safeway thread but no one answered, so thought I'd try here. Can anyone point me to SW's return policy?
Thanks!

My thought is that you'd have to contact the store. I don't have a Safeway so I have no idea.

At my grocery store (Weis) I can return items that are unopened and within 30 days (I think 15 on some items). I've done it a couple of times without it being a huge issue.

I hope you get it figured out!

What I do is, I have a business size envelope labeled for each store that I carry in my purse. In this, I place the coupons from the store, the manufacturer's coupons, and the list of items that I am going to purchase in that store for that particular week. I usually keep a copy of the week's ad, with the items circled also, with the envelope.
I started doing this yesterday. This is definitely 1 way to organize, especially if you have 2+ stores that you shop from.

The first sentence in this thread's wiki is a link to a thread on coupon organization. Every one has a different idea of what work's best. Here is the thread....

One thing more I should add which is quite helpful - do not shop at high peak hours. If you are going in with a cart full of stuff or wads of coupons, and get intimidated by the stares, or snotty cashiers or whathaveyou, shop at lower peak times. Example - dont 'heavy' shop like around 5pm, Saturdays, etc. I am not saying do your shopping at midnight, but you know what I mean. Go when it is peaceful, you can shop leisurely, where the cashiers are not hectic and might want to be chatty.
Just my 2c heart
I totally agree with shopping under different times,,,seems like even the cashiers are in a better mood when they aren't swamped by a ton of customers in line.
Thanks for the advice.

I find the early morning to be the best for the most part... You know, right after the cashier has had their coffee Wink

I use pencil pouches with a clear front to hold my EBs, RRs and catalinas from grocery stores -- each store has a different case.. It serves a few purposes -- keeps them from getting wet or damaged.. plus they're all in one place, so I don't lose any..

Anyway during the school year - it can hard to find the see through cases for a cheap price.

Walmart has them with a colored backing for $1.00
And just a clear case for .75

I stocked up on them.. This is the method I have used since I started couponing 2 yrs ago and it has worked very well for me.

I've got some of those clear front, fabric backed pencil pouches too, but the majority of my qs are in an old Rubbermaid file box, and the over-flow qs in a clear cosmetic travel train bag. I also have two q folders, one for weekly sales, and one just for CVS. I'm also going to a Trapper Keeper binder for all my CRTs. I walk into stores with a big canvass tote to hold all my qs files and box. The stores all know me and are used to my big tote, so they don't think I'm a shoplifter. I've been couponing for 30 years, and the q folder/box is how I've always done things.

I do about the same thing. I have a big binder for peelies and Qs that are for things I will probably find on clearance and popular Qs. In the front of the binder is a zipper mesh compartment for all my frees. There is a page size accordian file on one side for my Q booklets and sheets. I have a clear front nylon pouch for publix and a folder for the booklets, a folder for cvs with envelopes for each card inside and Qs for the week I have an accordian small coupon holder for target and lastly a small pouch with dividers for all my GCs cats, RRs. I carry them all in a huge coated canvas tote. I try to park by the carts since this thing is so heavy. Usually no one gives me trouble about the big tote but I did notice tonight some publix employees looking so I went through my qs in front of them.

No this is not true. You can call corporate so they will educate your store.
